"I was very pleased with Dr. Kellis and his staff. I was referred to him by another dr."
"Find another Laser Center. The doctor may be nice, BUT... The first time I went, everyone was so nice. When I went back, the first person I saw, a surgical asst., did everything from face planting my head into the side of a machine 3 or 4 times telling me to put my chin in the chin holder (which I did) and I now have bruises on the side of my jaw, to arguing with me whether or not I want to see near or far. I told her that I wanted to be able to see up close without glasses. She continued, literally, ignoring what I was telling her about being able to see close and went on to tell me that Medicare only covers standard lens and I would only have the choice of seeing near or far. I work on things like electrical circuits, 1mm beads and I can't put it any clearer. (Tapping my nails on the tabletop). Well then, you will have to wear glasses to see far....(sigh) I know. THEN, she proceeds to tell me I will need to see a pulmonologist to get a release, a cardiologist release and a release from my pcp. Because the paperwork said to list all the things you were diagnosed with in the past. I haven't seen a pulmonologist in over 20 years. I haven't had a doctor for close to 5 years and I never had or seen a cardiologist. SO, I'm suppose to spend thousands of dollars for tests these doctors will put me through just to get my eyes done! Which will take God knows how long to get them done, so (I'm already completely blind in the right eye), Let's factor in time to find a pcp, then to find and be referred to said other 2 specialists, setting up the initial appts., then for each of them to exam and set up whatever tests said specialists will want to have done, then the time to get the results back, (Been there, done that over 20 years ago.) and THEN to come back to Kellis to get my eyes done. By the time I get all this done, it will be next year and I will be blind, not only in my right eye, but I will be blind, by then, in my left. I'm 65 yrs old. I'm not stupid. I've been to college in the 80s for Bus. Mgmt., the 90s for electrical engineering, and now for civil eng., and geology. I've been around the block and seen quite a lot. And this woman should not be in a position of dealing with the public,. Either that or should take classes to update her education not only in the field she chose, but in geriatrics on the account of having to deal mainly with the elderly. I don't want to go back there, which is a shame, the doctor is really nice. ."
"I have very quirky vision, and can be a challenge to work with because of it, I Initially came here a couple years before COVID and was very happy with the doctor at the time, a Dawn Barkan O.D., (unfortunately she now works for Walmart in North Olmsted, lucky Walmart clients), she took the time to understand my issues as a result I was very happy with the exam, and the Maple Leaf Optical who turned my prescriptions to glasses were very good, unfortunately I would have to get at least one remake each time because they would put me in the “better” lenses which my eyes don’t like, only high index plastic seems to work for me, the last pair I got from them was about a year or so before Covid and they were almost perfect and lasted me until now, I would still be using them if they weren’t so scratched up, unfortunately neither Dr. Barkan or the Maple Leaf optical are there any more. While polite the new eyeglasses section soured my view of their service. The optometrist seemed rushed, and I had to get a re-exam, not to big of a deal. But I ended up having to get my glasses re-made 3 times and they still aren’t right, and I was told to take my business else where because I was to picky. The first was the standard mistake, wrong lens material, but also the lenses were too big, and they had poor clarity. The second time, the lenses were still too big and the clarity although better was not aligned properly, so one eye would be clear but the other would be ever so slightly fuzzy. The 3rd time the clarity was tolerable, but the lenses were still too big and the edges were still sharp and unfinished, I ended up going back a 4th time due to their lab cutting the mounting screws and not clean them up. At this point due to the fact that my frames, (which weren’t even bought there), were damaged, bent and stretched, the glasses were poorly made and the overall quality was subpar I requested a refund with the hopes that the next time it would be better, but to add insult to injury, I was told there wouldn’t be a next time and to take my business elsewhere because apparently they could not provide the level of quality I expected, making me feel like the bad guy and that I was being too picky for wanting to be able to see correctly. I was told I would receive my refund in about 2 weeks, 2½ weeks later, no refund, I call and am informed it will be another week, I did finally get my refund which is now the only good part of the experience. If you have picky vision and expect quality out the gate.... I hope you have better luck than I did .... I unfortunately now I have to find a new quality Optometrist again."
"I went there to get a glasses and contacts perscription. I asked how much and was told a price, but that the doctor may suggest other options for my treatment which may affect the price. After doing my vision test, he spent a minute or two asking me how the contacts feel on my eyes, whether or not it was comfortable. Turns out, he without asking charged me $80 for a "contact fitting". Total scam"
"I called to make an initial appointment and inquired whether there were retinal specialists and glaucoma specialists at the center. The woman who was helping me said there were not any of those specialists, but all the doctors there are trained to read scans. That wasn't very helpful... I ended up making an initial appointment for an eye prescription update with an OD. I was out of town and forgot about the appointment and was charged a $25 no show fee. No reminder text/call was given the day before the appointment. Great way to lose a potential patient."
