"Built a nice shop for us. Build went well, Jay was easy to work with, building is still doing great."
"my dad used his retirement money to purchase what he thought was going to be a complete cabin package. it took a few years just to get the supplies. when he finally received the supplies, there was no blueprint provided. any communication with friesen's was impossible, if he answered he was lying about where the lumber was and about the blueprints. don't do business with this company, they will take your money and leave you"
"Jay worked within my budget and went above and beyond expectation. My cabin was built to last and will be enjoyed by my grandchildren some day. I am 38 so it will be awhile. Jay sent me photos of the progress that my wife and I enjoyed very much getting. I get complemented on on my cabin all the time and all I can say is the credit goes to Jay. I am working on insulation and electrical now. One thing I appreciated is you tell him what you need from him and he'll get it done within your agreed upon price. We went with a modified Plan 1 and it is fantastic for our family and location. Highly Recommend"
"If you want to be ripped off pick Jay and his company Friesen’s Custom Cabins. A lot of promises made, but not many kept. Never fished our house and walked off the job with open contract items to be completed. 45 days for a dried in cabin and almost 1.5 years later he never finished the build and ghosted us. He’s a fraud and I’ll tell everyone one I know down here in the Kenai Peninsula."
"Nightmare build. Start date was July 2019, end date September 2019 to dry in. The project was initially delayed 3 months because Jay didn’t pull permits or have correct engineering. In February 2020 the build was still only 75% dried in. The inspector said it was so poorly built it needed to be torn down to the concrete and started over. We’ve had 4 different framers to include Kendalle Hindle who shouldn’t be allowed to build even a bird house. Hinge points galore and nails through all our plumbing pipes coming out of the slab that Jay never repaired. The list goes on and on. The second framer refused to continue working because he said Jay stopped paying him. At that point in March 2020 we’d already made 3 of the 4 payments. We waited from May 2020 to October 2020 to get all our windows installed. We finally had to drive to Palmer to get the last window Jay refused to give us, much less install. We were told Jay no longer had the money to pay SBS for our windows, the reason our build was further delayed. A skylight was in the contract, yet Jay never delivered on that. We had to purchase it ourselves and were never compensated. Now, as of October 2020 Jay has ghosted us. His second in command told us Jay won’t finish our project. Jay and Friesen Custom Cabins is in material breach of contract. And that 10 year warranty? Nonexistent."
