"I suffer from severe endometriosis and ovarian cysts. I had begged and begged my past OBGYN for a hysterectomy, he finally did it but only removed my uterus. I begged more for him to remove my ovaries and he refused. So I switched and took a chance on Dr Givler, to say she is amazing is an understatement. At my very first appointment she listened and cared and scheduled surgery at that 1st visit. She removed one of my ovaries that was significantly worse than the other. It's been 8-9 years now and I still have the one ovary, but my pain is incredibly decreased and I will be going back to Givler when I need this ovary removed, and I will also be taking my daughters to Givler. She is the most excellent caring kind OB we have in Missoula."
"Thank you Dr Givler for the amazing surgery care and after care. Nursing staff was tremendous also!"
"Patient Beware: Malpractice - Medical Coercion and Lack of Informed Consent My partner received ‘care’ from Dr. Givler. She needlessly prescribed antibiotics for an operation where they were completely unnecessary. My partner was not informed about the downstream health consequences of antibiotics. Antibiotics cause predictable and preventable harm. They should not be used unless necessary to treat an infection. They are devastating long-term on the gut biome. Science consistently shows how important a healthy gut biome is to overall health. When the gut bacteria are disturbed, the gut is susceptible to all sorts of parasites and can have an extremely difficult time recovering. In the future, when antibiotics might actually be necessary, they will be less effective. On a larger scale, the overuse of antibiotics is leading to antibiotic resistant bacteria. This will be a very heavy toll for us as a society to pay in the future when infections will no longer be cured with antibiotics. Irresponsible prescription and use of antibiotics by doctors like Dr. Givler are causing this impending crisis. My partner's blood work was done the night before the operation and it confirmed that she had no infection. She went to her pharmacist to fill the prescription and asked for his opinion on the matter. He confirmed that antibiotics were not necessary given the procedure and the lack of an infection. The next day I brought my partner in for her operation and sat with her until just before the surgery. As soon as I left, Dr. Givler arrived. According to my partner, she warned that antibiotics should have been started the night before and by not doing so she had exposed herself to ‘high’ risk of infection and fertility issues. In reality, the chance of infection from this procedure is 1-2% - from an ncbi research review - and it is typically done without antibiotics in the absence of infection. Dr. Givler made my partner cry by hyperbolically exaggerating (read: lying) about the risk of not using antibiotics. She also did not inform my partner of the long-term health complications that inevitably come from the use of antibiotics. This is NOT informed consent. This is manipulation and medical coercion from a person in power. Dr. Givler proceeded to give antibiotics via IV before, during, and after the procedure. If you’re considering receiving care from Dr. Givler, please find a different doctor. Find a doctor with an inkling of responsibility and a duty to the Hippocratic Oath - first do no harm. To Dr. Givler, for the sake of the long-term health of your patients, please be more responsible in your prescription and use of antibiotics."
"I have seen Dr.Givler for 5 years. She is everything I want in an OBGYN. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, easy to talk to, creates a safe space, actually takes time with her patients. (She even offered to let me borrow her bee suit once, but that’s a whole other story). She is a genuinely good person who enjoys her work. I am taking the time to write a review because she recently preformed my surgery. It ended up becoming an emergency surgery and I have never had a better experience (this being the 4th surgery I’ve had). Her staff were responsive and answered all of my questions in a timely manner for weeks to come. Dr.Givler took lots of time to explain details. I felt completely comfortable safe and calm the whole time. I am incredibly grateful I found her. I had previously seen 2 other OBGYNs in Missoula which left much to be desired. Thank you Dr. Givler."
"Dr. Janice Givler is a great OBGYN. She is efficient, kind, and has happily answered my questions. I've had her for a pap smear and for an IUD insertion and a Nexplannon removal. I am happy with her service."
