"I took my fiance to her for a tattoo about a year and a half ago. Her work looked pretty good on her Instagram. She only had one year experience at the time and now a year and a half later, I think that really shows. Her lines aren't super solid, they are very grainy when they aren't supposed to be and it's fading much faster than tattoos we got in the same month from other tattoo artists. We paid $330 + a $30 tip for a butterfly tattoo that is all black and gray and is only 3"x3." She tattooed for a little over 90 minutes. She didn't tell us her rate beforehand, but it makes out to $200/hr or so(you can get an artist with 10+ years experience for that price). Or at least it did at the time. I wouldn't recommend getting a tattoo from her. She only does super simple line tattoos, but doesn't have the skill or technique to really punch in lines and make them last. I personally have tattoos twice as old that are significantly less faded. Unfortunately, my wife needed another pass on hers. In conclusion, she's overcharging because she isn't that good at simple tattoos and they won't last. Find someone with more experience in a shop where there is more than one artist. It's normal to pay $200/hr as long as the artist has the experience to back it up. I am leaving 5 star reviews to the other tattoo shops we went to that month, because they did a great job and they still look great."
