"Patricia is very nice as a person. Her method is listening... only listening. So if you are referred to her because you need someone to help you through huge communication barriers with a spouse, I would suggest going elsewhere. If you are looking for a therapist that can actually work through your deficiencies and help use a researched and proven method she is not the right fit. We my husband and I both saw her to work through some communication barriers, and some trust barriers. We went in for a few months and made it very clear we needed more help than listening. We both came to hate going in. It was not beneficial at all. She allowed us to get into arguments in front of her, one of which was a complete power imbalance. Her only method to stop it was to say let's take a break and not actually enforce the break. When we asked for tactics, strategies or a script to help us work through our communication barriers her response was to read a book she read while she was in school many years ago (so I am not sure how effective with the new ways it is). This was sad because we went to her to help us, not tell us to read something that she was supposed to be teaching. If we were capable of just learning by reading we would not have gone to her! What is the point of having a therapist that is not going to provide therapy. Any random person can read a book..... we need someone to actually help. We asked at multiple sessions for more specific help. She would give us a random thing like write a list of goals and bring it in. Then she said oh these are good goals.... no practices, or strategies to get there. If you need someone to just listen and validate you she would be the perfect fit. However, I would not recommend her to ANY couple."
