"One star is not low enough. First and last time using Jackson Hewitt to file our taxes. For a working family with minimal paperwork and investments that were documented on a single column of one page I was charged $568 in fees for this service. The only reason I chose to go to a “professional” was that we recently had twins and I knew the child tax credit would apply since we did not receive them and that the twins were also eligible for the 2021 stimulus payment. I had previously completed our taxes in TurboTax but did not finalize as I wanted to make sure I had things correct. The actual refund came out several thousand dollars higher than our preparer came up with before reassuring with her manager I told her it was inaccurate. Our tax preparer spent more time on the phone and chatting with her manager online asking how to enter things than talking to me. I have very little confidence in this tax filing and will do my absolute best to make sure that nobody that I know ever falls for the “quick, convenient, cheap” business model as it is advertised. I was not aware of the cost until things were ready to file after our nearly 3 our meeting that was scheduled for 1 hour. I wanted to just get up and leave as I knew that was extremely unfair and was told well “you did have a lot of forms”. These “forms” may have had one figure to input in if any at all. I should have taken my chances and done them myself on TurboTax for less than $200. Call center staff were extremely unhelpful and I was hung up on one of the three times I called trying to get clarification on the fees and the refund amounts. It took finally calling the Wing Financial LLC franchise to actually get the “managers” direct phone number, though she did not answer or respond to my voicemail. This service was completely unprofessional, overpriced with hidden fees, and I would never recommend this to anyone. It has been an absolute nightmare of an experience. Do not waste your time here."
