7-Eleven

"The staff is usually very helpful. They keep the food stocked and the store is clean. But, there is a lack of training and customer service for anything beyond the basics that has driven me away from coming back again. I've come to this facility for the last 3 years nearly since its first day. I've been a loyal customer. The staff knows me. I buy my gas here and often get snacks for my kids and myself. 7-11 has not been disappointed with me as a loyal customer. That all being said, I usually pay for my gas at the pump. Because I'm a rewards member I get 11 cents off every gallon. Today, I went inside to pay because I brought in my daughter to a treat. When my gas was done pumping I noticed I did not get my usual gas discount. I went back inside and was told that the deal only works at the pump even if I put in my rewards info at the register inside the store. The clerk knew I was using my rewards and purchased $70 in gas. She just shrugged her shoulders and said that's the policy. Now I can accept that it's the policy, but it doesn't say anything about it being a pump only reward. How could I have known? The clerk knew the rule but didn't care to let me know. I walked out because there was a long line of people behind me and I didn't want to hold them up. I went back into the store a couple minutes later when it was empty. I spoke with the manager (maybe shift supervisor), and she said she knows the rule, but could not reverse the transaction. Again, I'm fine with that because it's not her rule or the clerks. However, I asked if they could do anything else to compensate. I also asked them if they could be kind enough to let customers know next time so they don't waste money like I did. That is a training issue that all clerks should know. I'm sure I'm not the first to have this issue. In shorts the reason I'm dropping my review to a 1 star is because the store manager knows I go in there all the time and could have comped the treats we bought or at least comp a future transaction. They were unwilling to do anything. I'm not willing to do business with a company that cannot make things right with their customers... especially their loyal customers. But, they broke that loyalty, so I'll head over to Fast Gas up the street from now on. Trust is too important to me to let an obscure rule create an issue when trying to pump gas. I don't trust this 7-11 to try to help customers even when they agree that we've been treated poorly."
