Telos U

"I began my treatment journey after wilderness at telos U in October of 2021. It was not the place for me. House staff are mostly wonderful people however most are too young and inexperienced to be working there. The students were almost all on the spectrum (which was not my issue) also many were dangerous to themselves or others. I was harassed and had very little trauma before telos. Afterwards I had to go back to wilderness and ended up at a far superior transitional program that fits my needs better. I saw students with their arms sliced open, saw them being restrained because they were so close to killing themselves or kids with no sense of who they were because of how drugged out they were. I had a glass pan shattered next to me and a pan thrown at me because one of the students was autistic and misheard something I said. My therapist was a nightmare. Fresh out of grad school in his 20s he had no idea what he was doing. He couldn’t control any of the students and no one respected him including myself. The rules were prison like. When you first arrive you have to be within eyesight of any staff meaning no privacy. Also the night staff open your door and shine a light on you every 30 minutes to make sure you didn’t try to escape. The program promotes Mormonism which for many people does not help at all. I felt unheard unsafe and scared for my safety most of the time there. Treatment saved my life but this program only made things worse for me. It feels cold and clinical and very corporate. None of the higher ups ever interact with the students and create new rules constantly to oppress the students more.I highly recommend treatment to people seeking help but this is not the right place for most. Edit: I have posted this review before and they have constantly deleted my review. My parents will back me up on my end of the story. I will carry the trauma I experienced here for the rest of my life."

"Our son attended Telos U and earned his high school degree here in August 2023 (we are from California - Bay Area). Our experience at Telos was excellent. The staff are well trained, well coordinated and available. Our son is ASD, ADHD and math disability. He aged out of another program at 19 and we found Telos. We were extremely happy with Telos. Our therapist was caring, attentive, relatable to our son and consistent. He was a wonderful example to our son. Also, we greatly appreciated that he was assigned a Life Coach who worked with him regularly on daily life skills like schedule, school, meals/nutrition, chores, fitness and work. All of these presented our son with anxiety and "flight" response. His Life Coach was caring, patient, resiliant and helpful. Misses were approached as learning opportunities. We had a very posititive experience with Telos U. and all its people. He was understood and supported. He may have had periods of dysregulation or stress however staff was always understanding, patient, kind and flexible. Thank you to everyone at Telos for your care and progress with our son. He (and we) learned a lot and will use that in his future. We are all better off for our time at Telos. We would highly recommend Telos."

"I was a student at both Senior House and Telos U in 2019. I had the support I needed to feel confident and capable in my life. I was able to finish high school and figure out who I am as a person. Trevor was my therapist and not only did he help save my life, he was the funniest and most personable therapist I’ve ever had. Taylor was my life coach, and she was like a best friend who also taught me the importance of school and a bank account, haha. Telos definitely did not solve all my problems but it helped me discover how to solve most of them myself. I took a star off just because some of the staff are college aged and not super qualified, and issues were handled not ideally. But I also went here when they first started the senior house program, and everything was new, so I’m sure this has improved. Even though my experience was so hard, I never felt alone at Telos. I hope this helps."
