Reviews
"Bountiful Sports Medicine is excellent - the staff is always friendly and helpful, it’s easy to get an appointment, and the doctors are great. They helped my son heal fully from a broken finger."
"I will never visit this office again. The staff is unprofessional, the doctor was rude and condescending, and the patient chair had gross slimy red stuff on it seeping out from under the paper. My fiancé went in with a broken wrist (she had to avoid sitting in some unknown sticky red residue on the chair, gross). She broke her wrist less than 48 hours ago and hasn’t been able to sleep well and has been crying nonstop because she’s in so much pain. When we asked for a prescription for a few pain killers to help manage the pain over the next few days, the doctor literally told us that it is “unheard of” to need any pain killers for a broken bone and to just take more ibuprofen and Tylenol. We are already taking the max daily dosage recommended on the bottles, told him what dosages she was taking, and he got condescending to us treating us like we must be doing something wrong because she’s still feeling terrible pain after breaking a bone 48 hours prior. The assistant later told us that there are “studies showing that mixing ibuprofen and Tylenol relieves as much pain as taking a Percocet”. I’ve unfortunately had 50+ sports medicine appointments throughout my life because of an active and reckless youth, and I have never experienced a doctor trying to gaslight a patient into believing that their pain isn’t bad and I’ve been given pain killers for less intense injuries. So don’t go to this office expecting to be treated like an adult, or even a human being for that matter, and expect them to be condescending to you and quote unnamed “studies” showing that OTC pain relievers are actually as strong as prescription pain killers. Moving on with the review past their inhumane and better-than-thou views on pain management. The assistant re-wrapping my fiancé’s splint gave contradictory information and advice compared to what the doctor gave. It’s obvious that the doctor clearly didn’t relay any information to his staff. The assistant also mentioned that she worked for a hand surgeon for years and doesn’t think the type of splint they were applying was necessary. That is a weird thing to hear while getting medical treatment, that the assistant doing the treatment disagrees with the doctor on how to make a splint for a broken wrist. It definitely inspires confidence that we’re getting the best treatment possible (sarcasm being used heavily). The reason the assistant mentioned the type of splint she thinks is necessary is only because she was trying to make the splint (the one the doctor wanted her to make) and accidentally cut the piece to mould the splint too short by several inches. The assistant still went through the painful process of applying and wrapping the splint and tried to act like it would still support my fiancé’s wrist even though it barely touched her wrist. So the assistant had to start over (that’s when she complained that this type of splint is unnecessary) Also, the Doctor came back into the room mid-way through the assistant wrapping the splint (the second time) on my fiancé’s broken wrist. He asked the assistant to leave the room to talk to him about a patient in a different room. My fiancé had to sit there holding her broken hand up mid-wrap so they could talk about another patient. I’ve never experienced a doctor’s office act so blatantly terrible towards their patients. Overall an unbelievably awful experience. The first thing we did when we left the office was book an appointment for a different doctor because we felt we can not trust anything that anyone in that office said, especially since they all said conflicting things. Update: It’s past 2am and my fiancé is up crying in terrible pain despite taking the exact dosage and timing of ibuprofen and Tylenol that the doctor ordered. Too bad this doctor thinks her pain isn’t real and wouldn’t prescribe a painkiller for a bone she broke two days ago. I guess the pillowcase wet with her tears isn’t real either, jerk. Again, and I say this with the utmost sincerity, this is the worst health clinic. If you care about yourself, go anywhere else."
