"I have two students that attend WLJH STEM, and our experience so far has been wonderful. The administration, faculty and staff are amazing and I know they are there to help my kids succeed. I enjoy coming to “mustang roundup” (parent teacher conferences) because they’ve set up a game plan to help not only our students understand some of the different concepts they’re working on, but parents too. If needed they have specific exercise/homework you can do at home to help your child get better grades, where they may be lacking. Another thing I appreciate is the communication between school & parent. I receive general communication (school updates through email, phone calls & social media) as well as (and what I love) specific communication about my children. Whether it is praise, or a call for help. I love that the school is on top of what is going on & lets their parents know. Yes, some conversations haven’t been the best to have from a parent perspective, but they’ve been conversations I’ve been grateful for. I also love the care many of the teachers have for their students. Genuine care. My daughter plays on the volleyball team & she mentioned to me the other day, how she loves that she sees so many teachers there after school to support their volleyball game. As a parent I don’t really notice who’s faculty, so for her to mention it, shows that she’s impressed that so many teachers care to show support for their students. I have also visited the school on many occasions & having my kids in a clean learning environment is important to me. I am happy that on those occasions I have visited WLJH the hallways & bathrooms are always clean & classrooms well kept, with updated material. I also love all the natural lighting that comes in the building. It’s really refreshing! And….I don’t see kids wandering the hallways sluffing. Super awesome! Great job WLJH I’m proud that my children are learning and growing in an incredible place!"
"This school has been great. 2 of my girls have attended. The programs they offer are a great help. Both of my kids have left this school with near 4.0's. The biggest problem they have faced is the fact they are white...a lot of the students have given them a hard time about it. My children have been raised to not judge people by skin color, race, or sex. Yet they are getting judged. That being said...that happens everywhere :("
"Wonderful people and staff teachers and also principles. They have helped my child to excel beyond my expectations. They have wonderful after school programs and also Sports. This is become a great School Love the people there, they truly are for my child. Fugal family Is very happy. Thanks Mr Howe and other staff for caring and making my student fell welcomed and happy!!!"
"Going there was actually my first time going to a Public school. By an honest review, I would not recommend it. The kids are very difficult to work around with when you are trying to focus. I am an 8th grader at West Lake STEM and I did not have a good experience. Now that it is a stem school, nothing has changed. The teachers are nice however, but it really is sad to know that it is such a disappointment. The subjects are way too easy to even be a challenge, and the kids are disrespectful. I grew up in a very strict school, and going here for the first time was a mistake. I would not recommend if you are a more middle or high class student, like me."
"My experiences with this school, was hell. However, now as a grown adult and looking back at it I can now see why this school had its ups and downs. Of course living in a community that is full of diverse will have some problems for communication, but hey we're all human beings and this is literally reality. Most faculty members are trying their best to get theirs students on the right path but eventually there are some kids that are in a certain stage where they make bad decisions, not only making them look bad but they also ruin the school's reputation. I still have hope in this school and so does the people that work there."
