"I was referred to Dr. Steier through NMCC. Originally I had an in-person appointment scheduled with Dr. Steier which took 6 months to get. I was called the day before to say he wasn’t coming in but I could come in for a telehealth visit. I was disappointed since this was a first visit. I waited over two hours for the technology to work for the telehealth visit. He was very friendly, patient, informative and knowledgeable. It seemed he truly cared. He ordered 10 vials of blood drawn to test for auto immune disorders or diseases. I have received the results via my portal weeks ago, but he never called me back to go over them. I’ve left messages on my portal and called and left messages for him to call me, but no response and no follow up appointment was set up by NMCC to go over the results. This was over 9 weeks ago. I’m at a loss as to why but I’ve been ignored and my medical case dropped as far as I can tell."

"He's a fantastic doctor.... when he actually sees you. His knowledge and bedside manner are great. He's a wonderful listener, very thorough and clearly knows what he's doing. His office staff is kind, efficient and easy to work with. Unfortunately, he's canceled on me more times than I've actually seen him. I drive from Alamogordo to see him and every appointment I've had with him the last year, he's canceled while I'm on my way to Albuquerque. In order for me to go see him, I have to take a full day off of work and to be canceled on every appointment at the last minute, is incredibly frustrating. They offer to reschedule as phone visits, half of which he never calls me for. I've expressed this frustration multiple times and it continues to happen, as recently as today. I'm seeking a new provider as I need one that will actually be able to keep their appointments with me and provide care. I wish I didn't have to, as he's a wonderful doctor...when he's there."

He knows from personal experience how rheumatic diseases affect people's lives. If you can get in to see him, do it. You will not be disappointed... but be ready for a wait to both get in to see him and then in his office waiting room."
