"I would give this 2.5 stars if it was an option. It’s an interesting place to say the least. I personally don’t understand how people don’t take care of a place like this. The staff was nice and helpful. The area surrounding was fine but doesn’t feel totally safe. Weird limos and boats that have obviously been sitting for years are stored in the back. The door to our room was super cheap and broken. Room was actually not bad, pretty clean. The window to our room had the mirror window facing the wrong way, so people outside can see in and not vice versa, super weird. Seems like a run down place, but nonetheless I’d stay here again for the cheap price if needed."
"Very conveniently located by the I 40. Service was very friendly. For the price the rooms were good. Clean, very quiet. The breakfast was adequate. The only bad comment would be that the roo. Was very hot and the a.c. didn't work. Other than that, great place for a stopover"
"Stayed around December 20th. Booked this stay without any prior knowledge of Gallup or Howard Johnson. As far as our experience went, I'd give it a solid 4 stars. We got in late, very friendly and helpful desk clerk. Got a room outside, as opposed to in the lobby, and it had hardwood floors which was fine. Room was clean, but not immaculate. Bed was clean with fresh smelling linens, lovely to sleep in. It was a pretty cool building to be in! Would love to have seen what it looked like in it's hay day. Reading other reviews, it was surprising to see so many people had a negative experience, but my wife and I had a great stay. The breakfast was really good! There's a hold of $100 that will be on your account to ensure you don't trash the place. Pretty good practice if you ask me. I'll edit this if anything weird happens with that."
"This is not a fancy place however we have stayed here 4 times traveling back and forth from Denver to Los Angeles. The service is great, the rooms are super clean, and the hotel is quiet, you can actually get a great night sleep which is important when your driving on a trip. Not much else to do or see in Gallop but this is our go to spot for a restful night. Oh, and the jacuzzi is awesome here."
"Disgusting! The hotel was not run down, it's falling down. The room was completely unclean. From the windows to the bathroom, but most of all the floors! Yuck! Turned my feet black. I had to clean my feet and bathroom floor with the towels. The area is beyond sketchy. We heard gun shots and there is a security guard that walks the grounds due to obvious high crime rate. I especially liked the rolled up carpets, old chairs, and dirty mattresses in the court yard in front of guest rooms. There is also an 1980's limousine with flat tires parked in the parking lot, that's probably been there since 1988. The real kicker is they charged my card 21.00 for the towels that I had to use to clean my feet and floors due to their dirt ridden carpet. They refused to refund my money because apparently it is my responsibility to remind them that the rooms are not clean. Sorry, no! Customer service involves taking responsibility for your disatisfactory rooms and just making it right! Shameful! Avoid this hotel at all cost. Trust me another 20.00 a night to stay at another establishment is worth it!"
