Reviews of Calico Butterfly Preschool
"Fortunately, Marisol must have changed up the place. Let me just say I had a difficult time returning to work full time, BUT Marisol reassured me they would help me and my baby in the transition and they sure did. My son has Magdalena as a teacher and she is hands on and I know my child is safe but also learning at school. Marisol and the staff are aware of age appropriate activities and are very professional But also make you feel right at home. This isn’t a daycare it’s a preschool for early learning with educated staff. If skeptical just call for a tour, you won’t be disappointed."
"We love Calico! Both of my kids have attended since infancy (so for about 4 years now.) The director, Marisol, is truly amazing. She does an excellent job of creating a safe and encouraging environment for all of the children to blossom. She took over right before Covid hit and has faced many challenges with grace. Under her leadership, there have been hearing and vision screenings, updates to toys and furniture in the classrooms, and a brand new playground. She has worked very hard to improve the quality of the school. She listens to parents attentively and takes feedback into consideration. She fights for her teachers, encouraging raises to be approved by the board for them. All of the teachers my kids have had have been truly amazing. My eldest asks if he can go to school every weekend, that is how much he loves going and seeing his teacher and friends. Ms. Lucy and Ms. Emma are true gems in the program, but all of the teachers have provided great care. Whenever friends ask about daycare and preschool, I always recommend Calico!"
"I'm the ex employee that worked at this daycare. My children also attended here. My Time being here was awful! Linda was very rude and when I tried to talk to her about our problems she didn't change one thing. My son was treated badly with the head preschool teacher that would always leave early because she couldn't handle the children (that's her own words) As for April Lucero I have text message proof of her talking badly about Linda herself. My son wasn't have her breakfast for a while week. He was also jumped and Linda or her staff did nothing about it. They weren't being watched when this happened. As for me I am a mother and I can assure anyone I was loving, caring, and more to the children I took care of. I've had many parents complement my work and I developed relationships with them and their children. Linda has had many complaints from not only staff but from parents. She has no business running a daycare the daycare she was at before she ran to the ground. The director before her (I was told) was awesome and had many children at this daycare. Now that Linda is the director there is very few children."
"Let me just add that she was not a disgruntled employee she was a parent as well as myself to children that attended this school. Linda is far from a nurturing person. She is rude and horrible with children and only made her employees post on here to bring there stars back up because the teachers are part of the problem. At least the two that we dealt with. Still horrible people to trust with your kids. This is the most unprofessional child care. I not only had both of my kids their but my wife was employed with them for a short time. The statement about employees being overworked and treated poorly is 100% true. Linda is very rude and is not good with children. As well as some of her staff. The only good staff she has never stays long because of the way they are treated. She does refuse them bathroom breaks and lunches. My kids were being treated bad and were not being given their breakfast for a whole week. Being that we had to supply their food and the day care charges as much as many 5 star daycares that do provide food. Their breakfast would be untouched in their lunchboxes. They would be extremely hungry after school. Our son was jumped by two other older kids while the teacher was not paying attention. Linda the director lost our sons shot records and paper with emergency contacts not once or twice but 3 times. She has no business running this daycare. It was much better off with their old director I was told was a great director. I'm sure many parents would agree. The state is currently looking into this school. Many reports have been made by myself and other parents."
"Do NOT send your kids here. The director Linda is working her employees to no end. She's not allowing them breaks, will not allow employees to write incident reports on children that hit or bite other children. We will be filing a complaint with the state. Linda is rude and if this God shining through her, I wouldn't wanna believe in the God that she believes in. She is completely under staffed and does not allow her employees breaks or lunches. I'll restate this again! ****DO NOT**** send your kids to this daycare. Linda is horrible and she's running a sweat shop!"
