"Visited the Lodge in early October. Staff was friendly and helpful to offer directions as my GPS did not work. Some meal options are available, and it's a nice stop after the Needles Highway."
"Started out with a great experience checking in at the front desk, but got to the cabin and the key cards didn't work... Ok, back to the front desk and sorted out, no problem. Getting settled into the cabin and found a dirty towel hanging on the door and someone else's leftovers in the fridge. Concerning. The front desk had housekeeping come out and sort it out. That's fine. Then the bathroom... at this point we are just laughing, but whoever is doing the repairs around here needs help. The sink is facing the wrong direction, there are wood shims under the toilet, and the shower floor is cracked so bad there are four patches trying to hold it together . Overall, the location is nice, and there is electricity, hot water and a bed to sleep in, so that's good. Definitely, going to be laughing about this stay for years to come."
"Don’t stay in room 103 or 104. These rooms have windows on the ground level. If your blinds are open anyone walking by can look directly into your room. There is absolutely no privacy unless the shades are completely closed. Then you will find the lighting is very dim. The worst design we’ve ever experienced in a hotel/motel!!"
"Don’t eat at the lodge. Go elsewhere please. Premium prices for McDonalds quality buffalo burger. Frozen patties pressed somewhere else, dry and zero flavor. Go to Custer or Keystone for meals. I would rate service at the restaurant maybe a 3 out of 10. We also stayed in the lodge which is why they didn’t get only one star. The king room was alright, not fantastic or stellar, but alright. The shower was blue from the chemicals they used for smoke damage during the cleanup after the fire. They honestly should have just replaced the shower and plumbing, because it was due for renovation anyway. The location is nice. Sylvan lake area is beautiful and you’re able to if in shape, walk down to the lake from the lodge and back."
"I just don't get the negative reviews. They have come back well from the fire, and our room with balcony was wonderful. Yes, soundproofing has never been that good, and you can hear neighbors, but it is a great place to stay in Custer State Park. The people at the front desk and in the restaurant were wonderful! Pics of updated room enclosed, as well as balcony view and on Sylvan Lake Free coffee 24/7 at the front desk. Breakfast choices are limited but food was very good, albeit pricey. Short drive to State Game Lodge has best breakfast buffet and very affordable"
