"I felt so dismissed by the health center. I came in because I was feeling so horribly nauseous and dizzy and they basically said they had nowhere I could lay down for a little while, turned me away and recommended I go lay in a hammock *if* one was available outside. They said no when I asked for anti nausea medication and recommended I check out the freaking bookstore for some, as if I could even make it over there. I feel so disappointed by them. Don’t come here if you are hoping to be supported and cared for."
"The doctors here are excellent and make me feel like my concerns are really being heard. I used to have Kaiser before enrolling in school, but the medical staff here is 1000x better than Kaiser (for me at least). Take advantage of the free healthcare if you’re a student while you can!"
"I've enjoyed pretty much every appointment that I've had here whether for physical or mental health. Every time I have had a concern, it's been taken very seriously. I am very confident that they listen to me and run the tests that are needed to make sure that I am healthy or improving. I don't recommend getting an injury obviously, but the sport's doctor here is really good. Both of the medical doctors I've been to here have been very kind and helpful to me, which is important because I have had negative experiences in the past with doctors not checking things out or listening to me and it has made me not want to come in sometimes even when I had absolutely needed to and really was either sick or in pain. Being taken seriously and listened to by doctors really does mean a lot to me and unfortunately, at some places, it really isn't guaranteed. I also have gone here most often for mental health, which I highly recommend. They do have a therapist here, who I haven't been to, but I really love the psychiatrist that I have gone to here. She is very sweet and good at solving any issues that may come up. I really can't imagine anyone ever having a difficult time with her or a bad experience overall. That seems incredibly unlikely to me. I wish I had been referred here much sooner. I wasn't told that this was an option and did not understand that it was until 2 years after being on campus. It's not as if I hadn't been talking to people either and still I was not referred over here or made aware that this was also an option. Mental health treatment is also free here. I just want to stress that because I did not know. Medication in conjunction with therapy tends to be the best practice for most mental health disorders as well as for ADHD, therefore, I would consider coming here even if you are already receiving therapy at a counseling center on campus or somewhere else."
"Best place I have been to for all of my medicial needs, short of E.R. related concerns. Provided better care than the two urgent cares Ive been to. Very convenient to schedule my appointments around my work and class schedules. The health insurance is much better than my previous provider. Also gives students opportunities to learn, grow, and gain necessary experiences."
"Every time I step in the Health Center, I feel that the ambiance of the place is always off. I go up to the people at the desk and the ladies are very mean, especially these two ladies. I don't like the fact that they are the first people I see going into the Health Center because it just makes my day feel bad. When I try to be specific about having a doctor's appointment or about my insurance and or why I came to visit the Health Center, they correct me in the most insincere tone and automatically make me feel like they degraded me as if they knew everything. I met up with the nurse my last visit before going to the doctor that day and when I asked her if I should keep my mask on, she viciously said with some chuckle in her voice, "Girl, you better. I don't want your germs all over me. I don't want what you have, uh uh." I understood what she meant, but I just had hoped she said it in a nicer tone. And when doing my eye exam with her, she kept irritating me because she was acting so unnecessarily rude as I performed the exam. Then came the doctor who did not understand my symptoms. I was just sitting there like he is a doctor...he should know what my symptoms lead to what I have. I just felt so betrayed by the Health Center because the one person I thought I could trust (the doctor), didn't even give me advice for what I should do next and was unsure of what I had...even though it must have just been a cold or fever. It made me feel as though he did not consider my time there as I had other complications I was worrying about in my sickness. He just told me he didn't know if I had the flu, cold, or fever; he gave me a prescription; and he called it a day after 10 minutes of my visit there. I at first did not mind spending that much money for my visit at the doctor's appointment, because the Health Center did not accept my insurance, upon scheduling the appointment since I really needed to make sure I did not have any other virus in my body. But after that visit, I have never advertised any facility as one of the worst facilities to visit especially on campus. If there is no change in how the Health Center acts, I will continuously have no respect for them and endorse the Health Center as one of the places no one should ever visit on campus because they make the Auraria Campus look very unpleasant. I have visited the Health Center various times for different situations but felt the need to write the review only now as my last visit topped it off. I don't even want to give a 1 star for the Health Center, half a star is enough for how they treat the students, staff, and faculty on campus as I've heard from others. I did not realize how many of their patients were treated with the same disrespect as I did there."
