Reviews of Eating Recovery Center | Pathlight Mood & Anxiety Center Corporate Headquarters
"If I could give this place 0 stars I would....I went here as a teen. ANOTHER troubled teen toxic and manipulative program for all families involved. Between the isolation rooms, zero freedom, inability to go outside, and more it is no different from Ivy Ridge or any other troubled teen center being called out now for keeping children and abusing them for their parent's or insurance companies $$$. This place caused me more trauma and pain then good. You are not allowed to make friends or be close with any of the kids in levels above you. I got in trouble for writing notes to my best friend in the level above me. Mind you we are 16 year old girls writing notes to one another in an isolated space just wanting to feel seen and have a friend when you feel so alone and misunderstood. How damaging could that be? I was punished for those notes. All my calls were monitored and if I spoke poorly about the program "my team" would tell my parents I was lying. My therapist was Whitney who by the way stole my journal and read the whole thing and lied to my parents and to me throughout the whole process. The place is seriously psychologically abusive. DO NOT send your child here. I have been fully recovered now for 5-6 years. If you want your child to heal Oliver Pyatt is the ONLY center that does NOT care about your pocket$ but your Childs wellbeing."
"They are winging it in the PHP (partial hospitalization program) for Binge-Eating Disorder, so please be careful about choosing this place. They lack basic communication skills and they actually created an unsafe living environment for us. Instead of being a proper mental health facility with interest or care and concern for their patients, they left us to deal with very difficult and stressful housing situations that THEY themselves created by not facilitating communication Of Any Kind or basic introductions. No discussion, no communication, no interventions, no therapy. So, please, especially if you don’t live in Chicago (in other words, if you can’t stay at your own home, if you have to rely on their housing options), please do not consider this program. They are ill equipped and downright negligent with caring for individuals in their care, particularly when it comes to providing a safe space to lodge. (I could say more about the staffing and programming itself, but the communication and lodging was so disastrous I feel the need to focus the review on that.) I can’t get into the details. Just trust me; I am Still dealing with the trauma - yes, trauma - that came about not only while in their care but actually Due to their awful management."
"The ERC team and philosophy helped my daughter to recover quicker than I would've ever thought possible, especially considering we had already been through another residential program that only made the issue worse. ERC's family based treatment is amazing. It allowed my wife and I to be involved with the doctors, therapists and dieticians as well as our daughter throughout the entire process. ERC also offers numerous education opportunities for loved ones during and after treatment that helped us as parents and also our parents to better understand and appropriately deal with eating disorders. My wife and I have said several times that "ERC saved our daughters life!""
"Having been to treatment myself for substance use, I knew the reviews would be negative for the most part, so despite seeing those, my child's mother and I decided to move forward with ERC at their dietician's recommendation. Our child struggled with that at first, but ultimately learned a lot about herself and others while in treatment here. No recovery is perfect, but I would recommend ERC to any family who has a loved one dealing with an eating disorder."
"I wanted to thank the Eating Recovery Center for offering the Caregiver Support Groups that are open to the community! Beth Ayn facilitates these groups, and I can’t say enough good things about these support groups. Beth Ayn’s passionate and unwavering commitment towards supporting the many families who are dealing with eating disorders is remarkable. With every group, caregivers get the support, resources and ideas they need to tackle this incredibly challenging illness. Caregivers have a place to be with others moving through the journey and to feel heard and understood. These groups have been a lifeline for me and so many others."
