"I hired Morgan to provide sound for a show on one of my mobile stages. He was on time, professional, and clearly knows what he is doing. Good guy to shoot the breeze with too!"

"I entered into a contract of sale with Morgan, the president of this company, to sell one of his company's rigs. I paid him up front for the rig, then was ready to pay for shipping as soon as he quoted me on it. He quoted me ~800 for shipping. Then, a few hours later he re-quoted for 10% more. That was fine. Then, he demanded I pay his paypal (another ~500 dollars) fees in violation of ebay's terms of services. I called him on that and he immediately became belligerent and rude. After calling him on that he jumped the fees by almost another 1000 dollars to a total of an extra 2300 dollars. Morgan resorted to what amounts to childish name-calling and repeatedly vindictive actions over the course of our attempted sale. If this is the kind of behavior I experienced when just trying to let him offload his surplus equipment - I can't imagine what he must be like to deal with in a professional setting. Morgan clearly embodies the harmful stereotype of the grumpy sound guy and is therefore, in no way, helping our industry move forward. edit: After Morgan's response it is clear he is incapable of getting the facts of our interaction straight 1) I never said we spoke in person. I was clear that this was an ebay auction - case in point - I mentioned that he attempted to violate ebay's terms of service. So, again, it is clear that Morgan can't get the facts straight. 2) I made an OBO at a specific number. He accepted. His comment back to me made no direct mention of paypal fees. It is against Ebay's terms of service for sellers to impose paypal fees upon buyers. So, he can't compel that as part of a deal. Paypal fees are the cost of doing business. So, you bake that into the price or you take the hit. 3) The only way Morgan made it possible to pay for the auction through Ebay was via paypal. If he wanted another payment type he should have made that a part of the auction. He did not. So, clearly, by only accepting paypal and then forcing his buyers to pay extra fees for accepting that payment type Morgan is practicing textbook extortion tactics. 4) I was up front and clearly communicative at every step of the process. Morgan's story changed time and again. I'm sorry if he feels that wasn't the case. But, again - he began outright with rudeness and name-calling. And, that is unbecoming of someone in a service industry like event production. Be wary when doing business with Morgan - and always ask for an itemized bill. Because if he was going to nickel and dime a fellow production professional with surprise fees I imagine he would suffer no compunction about doing the same thing to clients."
