"Normally, I wouldn’t write a negative review for someone’s work- especially a therapist; however, I feel compelled to now because I’m still affected by some things that were said. In sessions, Heather told me it was odd that I wore dresses because that wasn’t common for survivors of SA. She also told me it was strange that in during my SA, condoms were used and that typically, perpetrators wore them. There was never really much context given after this was said and at the time, I just accepted it but always felt like she thought I was lying about my SA or that something was wrong with me. I could just never make sense of it, but it certainly made me feel truly awful in session. Perhaps I would have said something real time, but I hadn’t built up trust with her because of the brevity of the work. The therapy was also a bit different, but I could see how some people love it. Personally, I felt like I was speed running through my trauma without any check ins as to how I was feeling. I also felt pressured for it to work- perhaps due to the format of the sessions. I personally wasn’t a fan of the “expert” dynamic either- definitely felt like I was a passenger to the therapy and rarely was able to communicate how I felt during the process, if I needed to slow down, etc. For context, I’ve been diagnosed with PTSD and during this time, I was very new to treatment. I could see this being helpful if you’ve already done a lot of therapy and are more stable going in. I was never frustrated that the therapy didn’t work well with me, personally. More so still contemplative as to why she said some of the things she did. She seemed so supportive, so the comments kind of came out of left field. This was a few years ago, so perhaps she’s doing better now."
"Heather is amazing. I’ve been in various forms of therapy for most of my life and Heather has cleared so much of the stuff decades of therapy couldn’t touch. She is incredibly welcoming and I highly recommend her for anxiety, trauma, and anything needing healing."
"Heather did a great job of helping my son through some issues quickly. And then she taught him (and me) some relaxation/destressing techniques that worked so well that I fell asleep. My son insisted that I write a 5 star review."
"I cannot thank Heather enough for the help she provided me. I had been in 2 major accidents one in 1999 and another in 2016 and of course suffered daily as a result. I had been to over a year of weekly therapy after my first accident in 1999 with little success. I was able to learn to sleep slightly better after that much time, but eventually gave up hope of getting my life back as I could no longer afford treatment. After my second accident I was again told I needed therapy, but I knew it was not really helpful for me in the past....luckily my doctor recommended I see Heather and he assured me it was a whole different approach then my last experiences. I made an appointment to see Heather not really knowing what to expect... even when I was there doing treatment I was down thinking "how will this help me?" but thankfully I had a prompting and knew I had to hear her and try all she asked. I knew it couldn't make me worse, so I quickly changed my attitude and did all she asked of me with my best effort and I was blessed; 2 -3 weeks after seeing her I realized I no longer has crippling fear!! I am grateful that I was able to be helped after all. I felt like I needed to write a review all these years later in hopes that my story can inspire others and to encourage others to not give up hope of brighter days ahead. I highly recommend anyone who needs extra help to see her and to please not give up!! Thank you Heather for loving what you do and for helping me too!!"
"Heather is so great. She honestly has completely turned my life around for the better. Coming from someone with over 12 years of therapy under my belt with no real resolutions or improvement I will admit I was skeptical before starting or RRT but within 4 sessions we tackled my 2 biggest life issues that were overlapping into every other factor of my life. Fixing those two things has created a domino effect into the rest of my life and I have been exponentially happier since meeting her. She is worth every penny!"
