Reviews
"We just ate at Post Oak for the second time. Our food was mediocre at best this visit. I will say that the jalepeno Mac and Cheese is super delicious. Honestly, the place has been packed both times we visited (one dinner and one lunch) and there is just so little room the wait staff are cramped and so are the customers. Food is good, but I think the atmosphere will limit how many return trips we make here."
"I’m hooked. Post Oak Barbecue is officially one of my favorite restaurants in Denver. I strongly recommend coming on a Saturday or Sunday and ordering their beef ribs that are sold by the pound on the weekends only. Yes, these ribs are a bit pricey, but they are WORTH IT. The beef ribs are $35/pound, and for us this meant two of the smaller ribs coming out to 1.3 pounds. They also have larger rib bones, but since I was sharing with my mom we wanted to have our own. I loved the flavor on the beef ribs, and I felt they were good as-is, and didn’t need any additional bbq sauce from the containers on the table. For sides, I recommend both the crispy Brussels Sprouts ($6) that are mixed in with a spicy aoili-like sauce, and the Jalapeno Cilantro Coleslaw ($5) unless, of course, you find cilantro tastes like soap. If you’re getting the USDA Prime Angus Brisket ($15.50 for half a pound, $31 for one pound) you can choose if you want fatty cuts, lean cuts, or a combo of both. I went with the combination so that I could truly taste the difference, and I got 2 fatty and 2 lean pieces with the half pound order. I personally felt the lean cuts still had a good amount of fat on them, and the fatty cuts were too much for me personally, but the gentleman working there taught me that the fattier pieces are better for if you’re planning on reheating it later. The staff is friendly, helpful, and embodied hospitable. I love how, right when you walk in the front door, you get to see them passionately cutting and weighing the meat. If you have questions, they’re eager to jump in to assist. As you wait in line to order, you can peer through the glass to see the magic happen. After you’re done ordering, the pickles with fresh dill, silverware, and water are all self-serve. It’s a very laid back and comfortable space on a charming street in Mountain View. They have Edison bulk string lights hung back and forth across the ceiling, which is made of some form of metal tiles. They have a good amount of seating options, including a bar, regular tables, and two booths in the back. We were able to easily find free street parking, even on a weekend."
"As a Texan, I heard this place brings Post Oak in from Texas to make their food and that was all I needed to know that I had to come in. Walking in, this place feels, smells and looks like a mix of some of my favorite barbecue places from back home. Since it was Sunday I had the Meaty Bloody Mary. It was delicious and I highly recommend it, even if its not Sunday. We had the dry rub wings, brisket and mashed potatoes with gravy. Everything was delicious and I enjoyed the variety of BBQ sauces available at the table. The pickles seem house made and were also very complimentary to the meats. The whiskey collection available here is very impressive, they have plenty of local options, even from small distilleries."
"Casual bustling neighborhood restaurant serving the best BBQ I've had in a long time. The attention to detail, the depth of flavor, the texture and moisture of the meat, the penetration of the smoke were all off the charts. Add to that the house made sides and sauces and you have a winning combination. If you've never tried collard greens (or even if you have) you have to try them here - they are amazing. Additionally, the Carolina-style pulled pork sandwich topped with their cilantro jalapeno slaw will knock your socks off."
"There’s good BBQ… then there’s Post Oak. I’ve been traveling all over Colorado in an effort to find ‘The Best BBQ In The State’, and ladies and gentleman it might just be Post Oak. Every single bite was better than the rest, the prices were more than fair, and the staff was just unreal. The entire BBQ staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time, providing everything from samples to recommendations. Don’t leave this place without trying the Mac, the Brussels, and if it’s available, the burnt ends are easily to die for."
