Reviews of Volunteers of America Irving Street Women's Residence
"This place has been a life saver for me. Everyone here cares about each of us ladies. They have so much to do and so little time to do it in. If it wasn't for them I'm not sure where I would be today and I don't think people realize just how hard of a job it is to do what they do in this world today. And do it with a smile and cheerfulness in they're voices everyday. They do more than just come to work for some people they change lives. Everyone that works here has been more than kind had some much compassion and gave their all. So if people don't get the help they needed coming here then I'm sorry to say maybe you need to reevaluate your ideas and take an better look at yourself because I've been here for awhile now and I've seen people come and go and I watch these people still treat them with respect even as they're getting disrespected. So I am going to say I wasn't here to witness anything that I've read that went on before me but I can certainly say that now it's an amazing place it's clean, it's safe, it's comfortable and it's the best thing that has happened to me in the past few years so I want people to know the truth about the VOA Woman's Shelter. Cause I read all the reviews before I was coming here and I was terrified to be coming but not one of those things at true of this place as of now. So take it from someone who doesn't give a compliment out easily that these people have earned my utmost respect and I love this place and I'm proud to say it's my home at this point of my life and when I am ready they'll help me find a place that's right for me. Keep up the good work everyone at The Woman's Residence your making a huge difference one life at a time. Thank you so much for allowing me to stay in your residence."
"My mother stays in this establishment and it couldn’t be more harder to reach her, the woman who answer the phone or more than rude they won’t even let my mother know I called even in the event of a family emergency. I’m almost sure this house is corrupt I see donations being made but the donations almost never make it to the women it’s intended for. Overall this place is very unprofessional and they play favoritism with the residence which should definitely not be the case."
"NO BED BUGS! have yet to see a mouse. I am a current resident @ ISWR and believe that this agency has shown a "Jesus In Disguise" mentally. Have recvd more blessings here then I can keep up with. Staff does their best and the Project Manager is someone who "gets involved." There are many challenges that I face everyday being here. Critters and pests arent one of them. Thank you Volunteers Of America. Im grateful to you!"
"They are not LGBTQIA friendly and bullying and hate crimes are a huge problem here. They also got bed bugs and mice infestations. There is too many second chances given here. People who come in drunk all the time should get evicted. People who bully and harass someone for being transgender should be evicted. Too much coddling. The rules should be enforced bit they are not. Staff is too apathetic and lazy to care or do anything."
"I have been a resident here for a short time in the past, and the staff is incredible. They go above and beyond for the women residents here. They helped save my life ❤"
