About Us

Located at 2001 Colorado Boulevard in Denver, Colorado, the Space Odyssey is a museum and tourist attraction that aims to ignite the community's passion for nature and science. Open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Fridays and special holiday hours, the Space Odyssey offers unforgettable exhibitions featuring black holes, dinosaur fossils, sparkling gems, and more.
One of the highlights is the "Orcas: Our Shared Future" exhibit, where science, art, and pop culture come together to celebrate the relationship with these fascinating creatures. Visitors can also explore the color spectrum in the "Wild Color" exhibit, showcasing bright and bold examples from the museum's collections.
The Space Odyssey also features a newly discovered trove of fossils from Corral Bluffs near Colorado Springs, shedding light on Earth's recovery after the asteroid impact that wiped out the dinosaurs. The Genetics Lab, located inside Expedition Health, allows guests to observe daily activities in a modern genetics laboratory.
In the Coors Gems and Minerals Hall, visitors can marvel at a variety of specimens from around the world, including the largest known pocket of aquamarine and gem sculptures by Vasily Konovalenko. A journey through the evolution of life on Earth and detailed dioramas of wildlife habitats offer immersive experiences for all ages.
The Space Odyssey is committed to inclusivity and respect, recently closing the North American Indian Cultures Hall to reimagine exhibition practices with Indigenous community partners. By acknowledging the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Cheyenne, Arapaho, and Ute Nations, the museum strives to be a more inclusive and respectful space for all visitors.

"I went with this place with my family 10 out of 10 has so much activities best with kids minds that have ADHD"
"I liked how the museum has included more things with ticket emission. Before you had to pay for exhibits, planetarium. However, a lot of the exhibits are broken and missing pieces. The escalator were broken. Also, almost every hand sanitizer station was empty. After being in the exhibit of life I just wanted to clean my hands and I literally had to walk to a restroom to wash them."
"They were running 5 mins late but once we got in the kids absolutely loved it. I have three kids 8, 6 & 4. They all did really good throughout this 30 min show."
"Such a well done museum with educational and interesting exhibits. And don't forget to take in a 3-D IMAX film while there."
