"This is hard to write but I have to speak up. Dr Borchard did my total knee replacement surgery in January 2022. I left Steamboat Orthopedics because I was seduced by the Mako Robotic procedure that Borchard uses. I started having problems 2-3 months post surgery. Called Dr Borchard at that time, drove from Steamboat to Meeker for 2 appointments to find out what was happening. After the second appointment he didn’t have a clue, said he’d order a CT scan … and 6 weeks later went on vacation and hadn’t ordered it. I called 5 times in 2 weeks and no answer. My PT called him with an idea of what was wrong (after 5 months of PT visits) and the doctor never even bothered to call him back. Dr Borchard is a good technician for installing the Stryker knee device. However, that’s really his only claim to fame. He’s relatively uncaring about patients who have abnormal surgical outcomes. And he was clueless about what to do for my problem after surgery. I mean, totally clueless. So I’ve gone back to Steamboat Orthopedics, and Dr Howarth has a solid plan to fix my problem and I’m scheduled for corrective surgery in a couple of weeks. It would have taken me MONTHS to get on a surgery schedule with Dr Borchard. If you live in or around Steamboat Springs, I strongly urge you to NOT have Dr Borchard do your surgeries. Dr Meininger and Dr Howarth at SOSI (Steamboat Orthopedics and Spine Institute) are amazing surgeons right here in our own home town and they have solidly good reviews. And their staff is excellent. And now they are also doing robotic assisted surgeries. I’m SO sorry I jumped ship and left Dr Meininger and went with Dr Borchard all because I thought the Mako Robotic surgery was more important than the surgeon. That is so not true. After the complete disregard that Dr Borchard had for the post surgical pain I’m experiencing, neither my husband or I can tell friends, family, or in my husbands case patients, good things about him."
