"My 11 year old son has been doing jujitsu for just under a year at DC fighters. He has excelled learning in this family environment. No kidding coach has 8 kids who all train and help coach the younger kids here. The love for your child by DC fighters is real and it’s obvious. My son has done very well in competition winning medals ( not constellation prizes ) in competition with less experience than the kids he is facing. I give all the credit to a little bit of motivation and to all the training with the coaches. Now as my son has started to need more of a striking training due to bullying coach pulls him aside for private lessons that he doesn’t charge me for. He was just so hurt by hearing my son was having a hard time that he wants to help. It’s not about money it’s a way of life for coach Mike and his family. I am eternally grateful for the help and support , and cannot recommend DC fighters enough. Adult and kids train here ( separately of course ) , and everyone is actual teammates who really care for the progress each team member makes. As kids progress, they have opportunities to compete all the way up to world-level tournaments. Mike is a natural-born coach and leader with many championship kids under his wing. He also provides a safe environment for kids to learn about themselves and test themselves physically and mentally. 6. Training at DC Fighters will allow you to be affiliated with DC Fighters Infight Jiu-Jitsu directly out of Rio, Brazil. Mike is an International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) certified 1st degree Black Belt and the first American to earn a Black Belt from DC Fighters in Brazil. Training at DC Fighters provided me the legitimacy of certifying my belts with the IBJJF. 7. DC Fighters is a huge family. I think Mike has like ten of his own kids, and they all train there, lol! "I first want to say how kind and friendly they are. I have checked out a lot of gyms and these people are by far the most friendly and kind that I've ever met. What they teach comes straight from Brazil, the instructors learn from the best in Brazil. Not only are they great at communicating and breaking down the moves, but they're always willing to help whenever you get lost. They help instill confidence, even when you're like me and you're slow learner and have a long way to go. I've only got almost two months, I'm always tapping out, but it's okay because they are extremely patient with me and how I learn. I also admire and love that their pricing is fair, and they also stand for good things. They are for veterans and all those that serve are great country. La familia, is the essence of this gym.
