Reviews of Pikes Peak State College
"Who is responsible for green-lighting a live band playing in the library during midterms? Also 6 + 6 = 10 according to the precision and accuracy chapter. Unacceptable."
"I was around when it was Pikes Peak Community College and my time there was pretty good aside from a professor who wanted to be strict just to be strict. I paraphrase "If you fail my class, that is on you. I don't care if you have another job, kids to take care of, or another class. Learn to triage." I definitely dropped out after a couple classes. But I digress. Overall the campus is spacious and there are plenty of programs to choose from. PPSC is a good foundation to earn a degree or at least get an idea of what you want to do with your future. If you're between 18-25, it is a great place to learn at a fair level. Most of the professors I had were everyday people but with a passion for teaching their subject. It made each class a little more comfortable to know that, no matter what age, you are there to learn from someone with experience or have been teaching the subject for years now. I'd recommend going to PPSC to anyone that qualifies for financial aid. You can definitely get a decent degree if you are needing one but if you are looking for higher education or a secure job in a sector that pays more than 45k a year, you'll have to go to UCCS or elsewhere. I never noticed the safety or security of the school, they do have an active Campus Police on duty and they've been very professional, then again this was back in 2016-2018. I do admit that the Financial Aid office is a jungle, the advisors have personality. Some more than others. Overall, if this is your sole experience for a college. Don't expect too much because it is a community college for a reason. If you do spend time here, make the most of it! Ask questions and utilize the resources they offer before you move on!"
"I used to enjoy coming to this college, I really did at one point and time, but man after almost having to fix issues every single semester that shouldnt have been problems in the first place, I decided to ultimitely leave this college. What also bothers me is, they use this outdated software from pearson called my math labs in which not only is pure trash, but outdated. I love how this college advocates for students but yet, the accessbility specialist, deans, and even departments shoot down any concerns and try to pin it on the student. What a joke. Hr litterally tried to defend the instructors behavior who pulled some questionable actions. Also the college litterally wont put any money towards a better math program, why my mathlabs? that software is garbage. Overall, I did enjoy working with some instructors here, the rest not so much. I do not recommend PPSC for college education. Update 1: I decided to give this college another chance and that was a mistake. It's funny, they state that students are the focus but from I have experienced, I disagree. My animal got sick, and I had to feed her medications, so I attempted an incomplete with the class, they wouldn't go through with it, despite their being a circumstance out of my control. I put hours and hours into their class to pass it and to the math department that determination, persistence did not matter, im disappointed that I gave this college another chance but, I wont be making that mistake again. Good luck working with the administration who touts they care about you but they don't, good luck with working with the departments to geylt anything resolved because it goes nowhere. The instructors here are amazing and do care about their students, its not them who is the problem, it's the people above them. Good luck working with math department"
"Graduated with my certificate for portrait photography back in 2020. I truly loved the professors I had classes with, the learning experience was honestly so nice and easy going. I felt challenged and truly happy choosing this college for my academic wants. The ability to pay for each semester was very easy and honestly there were months where I was almost behind but they helped me keep my accounts in good standing so I could graduate college debt free. I honestly always recommend people looking at this school over any other schools in Colorado. It’s cool to see they changed to a state college now as well."
"My teachers have been fine but the administration of this school is horrendous. No other school I have been to waits until after the drop date to show you all of your financial aid on your account. My entire school should have been covered, and they even said that I had a pending excess. But of course I can't actually see any of this. So now, I'm stick with an almost 500 dollar bill that they claimed didn't exist. Not to mention this school is over 3x as expensive as the last community college I went to, even after the COF. It takes days to reach anyone and the military department is worthless unless you're Army or Air Force."
