"This is a classic aged mountain lodge with the usual things like door swelling (need to push hard to open and close some doors), small pool/hot tub, and skylight fog. Other than that, you can see that they are investing money into the things that matter most. The breakfast area is all new with excellent options for food and drink. The food is fresh and delicious too! We went to the hot spring pools nearby and it was just a short trek, either by car or on foot. I really like the food options nearby too. For the price, this is an excellent place to stay, just don’t expect the 4 seasons and I think you will be pleasantly surprised."
"I seldom write bad reviews, especially a one-star review. But people should be aware of this place. Take the time to read the other reviews before booking a room here. The hotel itself is very nice, but on my second night there, there were people arguing loudly in the hallway from about 10 PM until after midnight. Despite other guests asking them to be quiet, they continued to argue loudly, sometimes with additional people joining in the drama, making it even more loud. Due to the layout of the hotel and there being a courtyard style opening spanning multiple floors in the area this was taking place, it would have been impossible for the hotel's night staff to have not heard every minute of what was happening, yet they did nothing to stop it. When I told the employee working at the front desk about it the next morning, she was very apologetic and said she would see if she could do something about compensating me on my hotel bill, but after checking out, I saw that she hadn't provided any sort of discount. I wasn't counting on one, but it would have been a nice gesture to make up for a terrible night's sleep. Overall, I was very disappointed with my stay there because of this incident. I had decided to spend the extra money for a room there to treat my son rather than staying at one of our lower priced go-to hotels that offer less amenities, only to be rewarded with one of our worst hotel stays in the area."
"Excellent! BEST free breakfast buffet I have ever had at a hotel! I was so impressed! They even had a fountain drink coke machine! I was so happy to be able to wake up and drink a coke, as I am not a coffee person but I need caffeine! They have real eggs, which my husband was happy about. A lot of hotels have those nasty fake powder eggs. They have this really good sauce to go with the chips that my daughter was nuts over. Don’t know how to explain what it is, but hope they don’t ever get rid of it. Lots of people went up for seconds and I heard other people comment about how good it was, too. They also had salsa. Yes… at breakfast! They also had all the usual staples like fruit and yogurt, bagels, muffins, waffles, cereal, sausage, etc. Nice coffee selection and hot chocolate. I will say it again- breakfast is great! Just the breakfast alone was worth the stay here! Location- great!!! Lots of things within walking distance! There is a Mexican restaurant literally next door, several other shops to wonder around if you feel like browsing (most not open in the evening) and several restaurants, bars and hot springs all within walking distance. Take a walk a little farther past the hot springs and check out the Jamaican restaurant! Their wings were delicious and the waitress was super helpful and was willing to serve us even though we came in shortly before close. The only downside to the hotel was the parking. The parking is free, but may be limited depending on time of day. We came in around 7:30 PM and were able to get a spot without a wait, but I noticed after we came back from walking around town a little after 10 PM that the parking lot looked completely packed. If you arrive too late on the weekend when they tend to be busy, it may be hard to find a parking spot. The rooms were typical of most LaQuinta hotels, the bathrooms were a little smaller than typical. The beds were comfortable. However, pillows could be better. They should replace those with softer and fluffier ones. The rooms were clean and no odors. We had a nice view of the mountains from our window. We stayed in room 331 and I didn’t hear anyone or notice the walls being thin. We slept well. The pool is very small and is probably more for lounging than swimming- it is small and only 4 foot at the deepest part. Kids still enjoyed it, but it was way too crowded at night. We were able to enjoy the pool in the morning before we left, though. We did have to get an employee to let us in the pool, because the card didn’t work. The employee said it was because we were checking out the same day. My husband and son used the workout room (right beside the pool) and it was decent and had a water dispenser and cups, which was nice after a workout. Pros: 1. Wonderful breakfast 2. Great location 3. Nice view of the mountains from hotel 4. Reasonable price 5. Comfortable beds 6. Decent gym 7. Indoor pool and hot tub 8. Inside of hotel very nice with tall coffered ceilings with fireplace in the entry and lots of seating for either lounging or breakfast 9. Clean! Cons: 1. Parking limited 2. Indoor Pool VERY small (4 foot max) 3. Bathrooms very small 4. Pillows not the best 5. Dim florescent type lighting in the hallways- suggestion for the hotel: if you change it to warm bulbs instead of the white cool bulbs, it will feel nicer and will have more of an intimate glow. The white light at hotels just has a creepy feel in my opinion. 6. Elevator to the gym and pool was broken, so had to use the employee elevator. It was very rickety and make a lot of noise. Overall, this was the nicest LaQuinta I have ever been to. It felt several steps up from most LaQuinta Hotels- closer to a Marriott. I will give it 4 and half stars because of limited parking and broken elevator. However, since I can’t do a half star, will go ahead and bump it up to 5 stars on account of the fabulous breakfast, coke machine, and great location in town."
"A place close to many conveniences such as the Glenwood Hot Springs, a gas station, many restaurants, and shopping stores. Walking is great as parking sucks in the city. The condition of the overall hotel is more like a sub-standard motel 6. It may have been converted to a Quinta Inn after it was occupied by another brand. It's definitely not new and even smells old. But the rooms are OK. The breakfast is better than most with more selection than HIE or other brands, and a large eating area. I asked about a place to fill up my water bottle but the employee said there wasn't any place like that in the hotel but I could buy bottled water at the front desk. No thanks. Also the gas station across the street is convenient to get snacks (definitely don't pay high prices at the front desk). The outside of the hotel seems sketchy but is probably safe. The parking lot isn't in the best shape with garbage strewn around, dog poop on the sidewalk and battered entrance doors. Inside the elevators look like they are ready to fall apart, and interior hallways have tons of marks and scratches."
"This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. It was so nice we came back! Belle at the front desk accommodated our room request graciously. The breakfast was excellent. The room was clean and the lobby had a fireplace and lots of comfortable furniture. Very close to town. I just walked over the bridge by the hot springs."
