"PLEASE SECOND GUESS BEFORE SENDING YOUR CHILD HERE my chis has been out right bullied by one of the teachers for having ADHD and it makes hard to learn for them/"
"When I went here for a brief period, my time at Vanguard Classical School was horrible. They had a no tattoo policy so the teacher I had had to cover up her tattoos with wraps. I didn't realize this applied to students...and temporary tattoos. I went to the Barnum and Bailey Circus and put on a temporary tattoo on my right hand. I was told to wear my sweater to cover up the tattoo. It was 80 degrees outside. Another incident was when we went to the bathroom as a class: you had to walk with "bubbles" in your mouth and put your hands behind your back and walk single file against the wall. When you entered the bathroom, you were not allowed to speak. When I needed help tucking my shirt back in (uniforms), the teacher scolded me and said I couldn't talk in the bathroom. Then I got reprimanded later when my shirt wasn't tucked back in. My absolute favorite memory was when if you didn't wear your belt, they threatened to cut your belt loops off (this is true, I swear). One day I forgot my belt and they grabbed scissors and said I'd either call my mom who was working 12 hour shifts at the time at the hospital to bring me my belt, or they would snip those loops right in front of the class. Their pickup and drop off system for when I went there for 3 weeks was messy and unsafe. My parents decided they would park across the lot in another parking lot and come pick me up while I sat on the sidewalk with the other students. They yelled at my parents saying that they couldn't do that. This was the final straw on an otherwise weak camel's back and I was unenrolled and put back in the now closed Lyn Knoll Elementary. For being a classical school, Vanguard isn't very classy to its students."
"Teachers are dedicated and attentive. Love the diversity of the community and curriculum and most importantly my daughter continues to love to learn and she is thriving."
"I love this school and what it has done for my son. My son has ADHD and was behind in almost all subjects when he started at Vanguard in 3rd grade. He has extra support with 2 teachers in the classroom, as well as extra care with his IEP. He is currently at grade level with everything, barely needing his IEP and caught up in 3rd grade as soon as he started in this school. The only issues i have is with consistency and some communication From year to year. they had homework club one year, then they stopped that, when tutoring and extra help was needed. He was able to be in band one year and wanted to continue the next then they said it wasn't available, its only offered in class not extracurricular, yet now one of his classmates is in band. some things change year to year and you have to keep asking about it."
"I've been constantly disappointed with the school system everywhere I've been but this school was by far the biggest disappointment ever. The faculty and staff are completely oblivious to the needs of students and are the rudest people I've ever encountered. Calls that were made to the school concerning my children and issues we were having went unanswered for weeks. I was only able to get acknowledged once I went to the school to withdraw my children at which point my wife and I were told by the teacher that our daughters problem with reading comprehension was our fault. She then said we, "just came in and, dropped that mess in her lap." Nothing was done about the way this teacher spoke to us or our children. The turnover with teachers and staff is mind blowing and tells me that the higher ups have no idea how to run a taco stand much less an institution of higher education. You would be better off letting circus monkeys teach your children."
