"The best way I can think to summarize Lake Nighthorse is that it's fine, but there's much better options in and around Durango. While annual passes are offered for locals, 10$ for entry is a bit much for tourists. (I imagine this is to catch tourists who assumed the lake was free and already commited to their plans of going.) Pastorius Reservoir and Vallecito Lake are good options if you don't want to go far from town, While destinations like Molas Lake, Celebration Lake and Spud Lake are farther away but well worth the visit. In conclusion, If you want a quick and easy trip, go to Pastorius. If you want a bit more of a journey into the mountains, go to Haviland. And if you want a bit of a hike as well, go to Spud Lake. You won't regret it."

"Beautiful lake with great swimming facilities. I had a blast jumping into the water off of the dock with my kids. Great way to spend an afternoon with family and friends in Durango."

"Very frustrated by the indifference of the staff. We showed up this morning to paddle board. Their sign says rentals available. When we asked at the entrance to confirm they were renting paddle boards we were told they believed the rentals were available but not certain. When we considered leaving before paying, they encouraged us that it should be open. We were also told there was a dog beach past the swim beach. Within 5 minutes we found that there were no rentals and no dog beach. When we tried to talk to them about a refund they said they don't do refunds and ignored our frustration about essentially being lied to. $10 isn't the biggest deal, but wasting our time and not showing any care for giving false information is frustrating."
