Far View Reservoir

"Quite interesting to read how archaeologists speculate about the construction of this reservoir. Essentially, the interior wall was built, then lined on the outside with mud, followed by another wall. Certainly an engineering feat, knowing that one rock wall certainly won't hold all that water, and too little earth between the rock walls will make the whole thing too susceptible to washing out. I don't think I would've liked working by hand, schlepping all that dirt in to fill the space between the rock walls."

"Nowadays it just looks like a depression, overgrown with weeds, but the amount of work required to make this reservoir without metal tools is mind-blowing. Impressive in light of the historical aspects, but at face value, not too interesting. Still, it is surrounded by other sites within walking distance, so you might as well stop here"

"If you’re a civil engineer like my wife, you might find this interesting. For us laymen, not as much. Nonetheless, still amazing to think man built this hundreds of years ago. If you are seeing the far view house, then you might as well walk the loop and see it."
