"this place is a dream, and more than just a sushi joint. the roasted eggplant is unlike anything i’ve ever eaten. i tried barracuda, black perch and 2 other fish i’d never had before. we had the best seat in the house right in front of the executive chef. the bar in the back serves impressive cocktails that match the stellar food. it’s hip but not too hip. our dessert was next level. writing this review is making me want to uber over there right this minute."

As a self proclaimed eggplant hater, the eggplant dish was one of the best dishes I have had in recent memory. "I ate like a prince at Kumoya and really appreciated the quality of the sushi and the appetizers. The staff was attentive, professional and knowledgeable. The general manager particularly stood out for his charisma and authentic love of Japanese cuisine. The eggplant dish was a standout and worth coming back for that dish alone. The sushi was the best I've had in Colorado in many years. I do have a solid critique though and as they're just opening, I imagine it could be easily corrected. I, like 90% of Asians, am lactose intolerant. I asked my server if the two desserts contained dairy and he said he didn't think so. He did correct the problem once I pointed it out, and brought a delightful yuzu sorbet. Though I believe if you serve Asian food to Asian people, you should at least be knowledgeable of which foods contain dairy in your menu. Ambience of the place was excellent, it seemed packed with folks on date night. The cocktails were interesting twists on classics and thoroughly enjoyable. I thought it a little impudent that they ask you for water when you sit down, and charge you $7 for a bottle of water. I don't think it's a big deal if you're spending 500 bucks on sushi for a table of three with drinks, but I do feel it is a bit inhospitable. I thoroughly recommend this place if you are not on a budget and really value fresh fish."
