Reviews of Residence Inn by Marriott Colorado Springs South
"I've stayed in several different Marriott brands for work, and find the ownership group has a lot to do with the quality of the property you stay at. Front desk staff are actually warm and welcoming (first sign of a great ownership group and management) and this group maintains their grounds, but by God upgrade your rooms or at LEAST fix some of the cosmetic issues like the carpets that are threading away at all of the transitions. The rooms just feel old and dated, and the lighting is awful, especially if you need to do work. If you stay for business and require the internet, good luck. "High speed" will get you 10 mb/s if you're lucky. For reference DSL is 3 times faster than these speeds. I've seen references to "upgrading" your internet service, no such an option was presented to me, a gold member, who receives complimentary high speed upgrades. Breakfast is a bit lackluster and very tightly spaced, even for a property with a limited kitchen."
"Nick at the front desk has provided some of my favorite customer service of all time. Agata was also exceptionally helpful. My only serious criticism of this hotel is that as an extended stay hotel with so many great qualities it's curious that the laundry room situation is the way it is. There are only two washers and two dryers, which doesn't seem like nearly enough for a hotel like this. On top of that, one washer is out of order and one of the dryers doesn't do its job properly. The $2/load fee is pretty annoying, but when you add that on top of the $5/day parking fee the least they could do is make the laundry situation a smooth operation for the amount of people staying here, especially those staying long term."
"The staff was so, so accommodating when we checked in. We were here for several weeks for work. Our stay was fine, but it was not great. Not the best residence inn we have stayed at, and certainly not the best Marriott. I'm very disappointed with the long term rate they charged us. At check in the staff was very kind and gave us a welcome basket since we were staying long term. I was very frustrated with the gentleman from the sales department. Of every hotel we have worked with, he was the least accommodating and charged us the most. (We travel for work and move from hotel to hotel). He told me they charge so much more because of the per diem rates in the area. We pay out of pocket and are not reimbursed for our hotel expenses, so this was very frustrating. What made it most frustrating was the quality of this residence inn. We have stayed in much nicer residence inns, towneplace, and Fairfield brands than this location for a much better rate. This location does not have the standard Marriott soaps. The TV is old and does not allow you to connect to any streaming services, so bring a roku. The internet signs you out every single day. The bathroom and shower had mold before we arrived. I tried scrubbing and getting it clean. The breakfast was subpar for a residence inn. They didn't have quiches or ham and cheese croissants like other residence inns. During the week, breakfast was often put away 15 minutes before it was supposed to. The laundry situation was awful. Only two washers and dryers. One of the washers was broken the entire two months we were there. Then, during the last week, the entire laundry room was shut down, and we were just told to go across the street to the Fairfield, where they had two washing machines and only one dryer. It was horrible. Homeless crackheads are everywhere in this area. I would watch one guy come up to the trash can outside my window and go through it daily while looking for cigarettes on the ground. There was a homeless person living in the trees behind the hotel. He had his hammock set up with tarps. Would I stay here again? Probably not."
"We've stayed here several times in the last few years because it's one of the few affordable options for a suite with multiple bedrooms. We've always had good service - front desk, housekeeping, and breakfast services are always very friendly. However, the room we had during our last visit (#205) really needed some TLC - the chair was threadbare, fridge dented, pieces falling off the lights, glass shelf in bathroom wouldn't stay in, etc. None of these ruined our trip but did make the room feel pretty outdated. Our rooms in the past haven't been in as rough shape. The couches are not that comfortable but the beds are decent. Shower pressure is good. The pool is small and a bit chilly but our kids have fun in it. The grounds are kept up nicely, and the hotel is clean. Road noise is pretty high since the hotel is right off I-25, but the location is great if you are visiting the zoo, GOTG, or other attractions on the south end. Overall, it's good if you are looking for an affordable option that will get the job done and is family friendly."
