"Giving them another 1 star review to make sure this management company has a poor rating. This company is the epitome of evil and tries to scam college students out of their unusually high deposit. They also spam your email. Make sure to take pictures of the home and keep your receipts! They tried to scam me $200 out of my deposit for a “missing key” fee. Good thing I took pictures of all of the keys I returned on their office desk with the Four Star representative who accepted the keys. Friendly reminder - if you move to Boulder, use Boulder Property Management or Griffis Residential."

"Four Star decides to tour my apartment without letting me know. If they send an email to say they’re touring; they will show up at a completely different time. They invade my privacy constantly. I do not feel safe being my apartment, as they can walk in at ANY time. Such a disgusting company."

"They literally put me in a hotel for 2.5 months because the renovations weren’t done on time before my lease begun. Then when the hotel charged the owner for unpaid nights - they called me and said I was acting fraudulently. Additionally, they withheld most of my security deposit which was over $3000 for absolutely nothing. You can see that on the news they are being fined for these issues so hopefully I will be getting my money back. I contacted the attorney general. Last but not least, I viewed the apartment that I was leasing prior to renovation, and once the renovations were complete, they cut off a major portion of the apartment so it was much smaller than I expected . Absolutely terrible company and terrible people running it. thank you for scamming college students."

"This company was recently fined $1MM for illegally retaining security deposits. My wife and I lived in a Four Star managed property in North Boulder from 2019 to 2021. It was by no means a dump - it was geared towards young professionals and grad students primarily. Upon moving out, we were met with an abundance of bogus charges deducted from our security deposit. The most egregious of these was a carpet cleaning fee - for an apartment with no carpet! We challenged the assessment and Four Star, instead of working with us, referred us to a collection agency. We had no choice but to settle. This predatory practice was clearly a component of their business model - they made genuinely no effort to work with us on a resolution before selling our bogus "debt" to a collector. Be advised that there are several more scrupulous landlords in Boulder, even on the hill. Tenants should rent from them. Landlords should hire them. There's no reason to think that Four Star will improve its practices in spite of their legal woes."
