The Tanner House Bed & Breakfast

"*Subject to revision if I can get a response, access to the property (though it has been paid for in full)* Arrived at 11:30pm with my party of 8 and was greeted by a dark house, an emergency number that goes straight to voice mail and a mail box that has not been set up. NO communication from the property owner except for 1 confirmation email and 2 charges to my credit card. We are finally at 01:32 in hotel rooms 25 minutes away and hopeful that we can get a response tomorrow so that we can be in downtown Nauvoo as we had planned. After an unfortunate start. The owner did get back to me the next morning and gave me a code to get in. Said he will refund the 1 night (small gesture) and was more defensive than apologetic. The postive: wonderful historic home close to everything, modern conveniences like AC and WiFi that worked great, views of the temple from one of the bedrooms, nicely appointed, and everyone in our party of 8 had a bed. The price was very competitive for an entire home in this area. Don't expect luxury and you will definitely enjoy the stay. Hopefully you experience a more engaged owner than we did (I also had multiple texts / emails not returned). Rounded up a 2.5 star stay to 3 stars."

"We loved our brief stay at the Tanner house. Staying in a home with history made the experience that much better. Exploring and learning about the house was almost as much fun as exploring the rest of Nauvoo. It is walking distance to the Nauvoo temple and several stores and restaurants. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, plates, and utensils. It was absolutely perfect."
