"Stopped at the Van Walls Ankney store to pick up a backhoe that I purchased from another Van Wall store. When I walked in I proceeded to goto the parts desk where they proceeded to give me the key to the backhoe I had bought. Unfortunately when I went to get it there was a skidloader in the way, so I proceeded to go back into the store. I went to the service manager and asked him if he could help get the skidloader moved so I could load my backhoe. He proceeded to go off about how he claimed nobody had notified their store that I was coming(Not true!) and Oh it wasn’t our store that sold it to you!! And say how bad there salesman were because god forbid he had to get off his YouTube he was watching on his phone and go move a skidloader and take 2 minutes to do it.. I proceeded to tell him that yes although I didn’t buy it from his salesmen, that the name on his shirt was the same as the one I bought it from the Iowa falls store and that the 48,000 I spent with the company all went to the same place.. I don’t know why he was so rude and why he needed to throw in all his bad comments about all the salesmen and throw them under the bus.. when god forbid it simply took him two minutes away from his YouTube show on his phone to simply help one of his company’s customers.. Wow..how rude!! I’ll stay away from the Ankney store from now on and stick with the great people I’ve dealt with and always have been fair to me at the Iowa Falls store, where they actually care!!"
"The guys at the parts counter were very helpful. I had to wait for the part to come in and they called me promptly with the correct part. Thank you all for your help."
"Came to get a filter for one of our blowers, quick service and very helpful with finding the filter we needed."
"I had my John Deere riding lawn mower serviced in April 2020 with a new battery put on for $300 plus. Got the mower back within a week, used for 1 month and then wouldnt start. My mower only had 130 hours on it and was just recently serviced at Van Wall so I knew it couldn't be anything too serious. I again called Van Wall and told them that my rider wouldn't start and they picked it up within a couple days. Jason, a tech from Van Wall called me after looking into the issue stating the mower needed a new starter. I gave permission to have a new starter installed. Jason then called me back stating the stater was installed and the mower still didn't start. A couple hours later Jason called again stating the mower needed a new engine. I said are you kidding me? Jason said no and that my mower was "on the low end for a model of mower made by John Deere and that Jason has seen this a couple times." Jason quoted me an estimate of $1200. I told Jason no, that I wasn't going to have a new engine installed, and that the mower can be delivered back to me. Jason also gave me the option of having Van Wall salvage the mower for me at no cost to me. (I can only imagine what Van Wall would have turned around and sold my mower for had I agreed to that. Van Wall charged me $279 for labor, and delivery fee to return my mower. Keep in mind the new starter that was installed was taken back off since that wasn't this issue. I then get my mower back and take it elsewhere to get another opinion. Come to find out it was the cam shaft, and the part was $99. That was replaced and my mower now runs again, like new. Shame on you Van Wall for trying to take advantage of me, being a single woman. I absolutely believe you were taking advantage of me and thought you could pull one on me. I will never have anything serviced at your location again. Definitely need to look at getting smarter techs that can diagnose an issue with small engines. Jumping to conclusions is not a way to run a business."
"I have mixed feelings about Van Wall Equipment. The sales and service departments are first rate, and provide 5 star service. We have both a John Deere tractor and an Ariens snow blower and have been very happy with both. My issue is with how rude their delivery driver is. In December, we scheduled annual maintenance on our lawn tractor (with the work to be completed in January). The only issue is that prior to receiving Van Wall's flyer about their service special for lawn tractors, we drained the gas, and oil, as well as put the battery on it's charger. When I scheduled the service, I was upfront about the condition of my tractor, and was told by the service manager that it was no problem and to just make sure that I put a sign on it saying "don't start, no gas or oil ". I did this and thought that everything was fine until the guy picking up my tractor started questioning me about the non-running condition of my tractor. I explained that I winterized the tractor prior to receiving Van Walls flyer. He proceeded to lecture me for over 5 minutes about why it is unnecessary to drain the oil, and he kept asking why I did it. He further went on about how they expect to push a non-working tractor, and that my actions were totally unnecessary. When I told him that I was upfront with the service manager about the condition of the tractor and she was fine with it, he said "maybe she was just being polite". It is a fairly new tractor, and now that I am aware that Van Wall offers an after season maintenance special I certainly won't dare drain the gas or oil again because I personally don't feel like receiving another lecture from the guy picking up my equipment for service. FYI, my lawn tractor has been well cared for and it is my prerogative how I choose to care for it over the winter. I would appreciate it if someone from Van Wall could explain it to their driver since my explanation apparently wasn't good enough for him."
