Vinyl Cup Records
About the Business
Vinyl Cup Records is a unique institution located at 2815 Beaver Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa, United States. Our mission is to bring people together through great music and brew. We first started as a Facebook Group in August 2017 and opened our doors as a Record Shop in August 2018 in the Historic Beaverdale Neighborhood of Des Moines.
When you step into Vinyl Cup Records, you'll immediately notice that we offer a different experience than your typical record store. We don't have a counter, posters cluttering the walls, or a limited selection. Instead, we offer a complimentary beverage of your choice, a well-organized collection spanning genres from "A to Z", a cozy listening room, and a friendly staff to assist you in your record digging adventure.
We believe in welcoming everyone into our space, whether you're a seasoned vinyl collector or completely new to the hobby. Our goal is to grow the music community by introducing new listeners to the joys of vinyl. Most of our customers have become good friends, and we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
If you don't have a record player, no problem! Purchase a record from us and we'll help you find the perfect player. We also purchase records daily at our locations in Des Moines, Cedar Falls, and Omaha, offering competitive prices and paying cash.
Visit our locations in the Historic East Village of Des Moines, Main Street in Cedar Falls, and the Old Market in Omaha for a unique browsing experience, hand-picked music, and friendly staff. Vinyl Cup Records is not your ordinary record shop - we aim to provide exceptional customer service and a constantly changing collection for all music enthusiasts.

Reviews
"The guy who was working, whom had the dog, was an absolutely jerk. I continuously heard him make the in person customers and even the customers over the phone feel like an inconvenience. There was about 3 records I planned on purchasing there today but had to leave because he was so rude and the vibes were horrible. I love supporting local business rather than buying from Amazon, but I’ll stick to other record shops in the DSM metro area."
"Very lively place, it feels great to know my Crosley & I are welcome. Being new to the Vinyl community, it is hard to find a place that prides themselves in a judge free zone. Let's stop the bigotry & support this great small business!"
"Knowledgeable, quality and customer focused are just a few words that come to mind when I think about Vinyl Cup Records. I highly recommend the shop if you are interested in vinyl or music in general. The staff are always fun to visit with about the shared love of music and are always super helpful in tracking down hard to find releases or suggestions with new music to try. Vinyl Cup also has great deals and coupons that help with the bottom line. Go for a visit, you will be happy you did!"
"Best damn record shop! The owner is friendly, supportive and has a great sense of humor. Great selection, friendly staff, free pop, water or beer and amazing listening room. And Earl the shop dog is the best. Such a good boy."
"Smaller inventory than some other shops but the quality of the inventory is amazing! Really great records and often titles that you very rarely see on vinyl. The building is really cool too. The person working there offered me something to drink while I was there and talked enthusiastically about punk, Bob Dylan, and other varied topics. This is probably the best record store in Des Moines for more hard to find, more expensive used vinyl. Don't go here unless you want to be tempted to spend your life savings on great music"
