Element West Des Moines

"Our first stop on the trip was Element West Des Moines. We loved how bright this hotel was. The colors and modernness made everyone have a little more energy after traveling. The rooms were great for a full suite. We had everything one would need for a longer stay, even though we were only staying one night. One issue was that you could hear everything in the hallyways. So if you are a light sleeper keep that in mind. The staff was great and we appreciated the car charger on the property. The pool are was clean and the kids enjoyed swimming. The breakfast was killer and we would recommend it if you are in Des Moines."

"Great size rooms with full amenities. Clean and the staff is amazing! Very friendly and accommodating. Great morning breakfast, good parking, and very nice for a price much less than other places with less to offer."

"I made a team reservation with this hotel directly last fall. I called Tuesday night to change the reservation from Thursday - Sunday to Friday night. She was professional and asked what group I was with and my name. No issues. Well, we show up for our reservation on Friday afternoon and we're told there is no reservation, the hotel is full, and they can do nothing. She went to check with her manager who would not speak with me. I asked if I was charged for this reservation and was told no. No offer of assistance to find another Mariott nearby property or anything. I expected more as a rewards member but was ignored and talked down to and disrespected. Taking a long break from all Marriott properties after this."

"Nice, clean modern amenities. The staff was nice and efficient. The breakfast in the lobby everyday is very good. It's nice that they don't use all disposable plates; more sustainable. I also like the refillable shower & bath gel dispensers in the showers."

"I feel bad leaving a bad review because the staff was exceptional, but the suite we stayed in (2 night stay) was just not good. Bring noise cancelling headphones because Wellman's Pub next door is loud party central at the weekend.. so good luck sleeping. There was a problem with their sewage system and the entire floor smelt of.. sewage, which also emanated from our shower drain at sickening levels, so it wasn't very nice using the bathroom. The lights in the bedroom and kitchen didn't work, hardly any covers for the beds, and very thin.. the worst flat, thin pillows in the world, hard rough carpeting that felt like tacks (don't walk on it barefoot) and just overall the room was very uncomfortable. The bright side though was their lobby, which was bright, inviting and had great breakfast and good coffee. I would like to score them better because of the nice staff, but 2 stars only I'm afraid. I would not stay here again and I would not recommend."
