"I’ve been coming to the North Shore for the past 9 years except for 2021. One of the places we visit is old Waialua Sugar Mill. It’s the last working sugar cane plantation to close in 1996. How a commercial business sites. The Soap Factory is the main reason for coming now since my wife discovered how much she liked the soap and even orders it on line since we live in Wisconsin. They have a surf shop, Waialua Surf, that makes customized surf boards as well as all the accessories that go with the surfing. Waialua Surf also sales clothing which I have bought that hold up well. There is Waialua Coffee shop, that you guess it sell coffee and beans that are grown on site. The owners pick the coffee beans for Dole Plantations but are able to keep part of the harvest which they sell in the store. You are able to buy shaved ice and a small selection of food. There is art for sell from wood craving to prints and some original pieces of local artist as well many other items that should interest all buyers. A framers market on Saturday is offered. Within the last year a distillery was built but not in operation at this review, the roads have been paved. There use to be a smokestack on the grounds but it was taken down this past year. Overall the Sugar Mill is coming along. The hours are from 9 to 5 Monday thru Friday but on Saturday opens at 8 and closes at 5."
"Cool place to check out, and the best soap to use ever!"
"Nice view of Waialua from the top of the old sugar mill smokestack."
"Great selection of books and souvenirs you don't find elsewhere. I wouldn't have known to stop unless my local friend recommended it. You can feel the weight of the history of the place."
"Tourist trap with ok priced stuff that I hadn’t seen elsewhere. Workers were polite. I bought two scoops of ice cream and the sign said , “Dave’s ice cream “. I watched the lady scoop two scoops of ice cream out of two large ice cream containers that were labeled with a different brand of ice cream. The sign said a price and the guy charged me two dollars more than the price listed and tax. I asked about the price and the guy just shrugged . He had talked to me earlier so I knew he could understand me .I asked again and he shrugged again. The ice cream was good but it wasn’t the product that was on the sign . It was a less expensive brand. The price on the sign and the price I was charged were different .I felt cheated. Left me with a bad feeling."
