"There’s not as much see from the top that would make the drive worth it. 10 miles of a single lane very rough, very windy road with a 15 MPH speed limit. 40 minutes each direction of not knowing if someone is going to fly around a corner and plow into you."
"The lookout is cool but the drive up is more interesting if not a little bit scary. Lots of blind turns, rough pavement, and only one lane."
"Clouds rolled in so didn’t get a view. The vegetation changes so much on the way up and I believe we saw some Nene’s. Road is single lane at the top so can be a bit tricky."
"The name of this place is very misleading. This is a 40 min one lane dirt road drive that leads to a starting point of very long trails. The lookout spot doesn't give you views of the Mauna loa itself which is what I interpreted! There is a bathroom and a few parking spots. Wish I had read all the reviews! Hopefully someone reads my review and decides what to do.We drove for 40 mins, spent 10 mins and drove back for another 40 mins!"
"5 STARSSS!!!! Experience of a life time, amazing view you will never forget it, especially in the afternoon, the photos don’t do it justice. Very nice and secluded spot, wasn’t busy even on the weekend. Great accommodations well cleaned bathroom, nice eating area with a view to die for. Plenty of parking. A great road trip up to the look out point, interesting display of nature, we were smiling the whole way, great trails and views. Would highly recommended for any family or any age!"
