Anahola Beach Anahola, HI 96703

"The right most side of the beach is protected from large waves and is great for swimming. The middle area of the beach near the lifeguard tower has coral reefs so it is good for snorkeling - we saw a fair variety of fish and even a sea Turtle! The left side of the beach has taller waves, but there is one spot where you can stand on dunes and body or boogieboard really well. Visibility in the water can be a bit lower when the water is rougher out at sea, but it was still easy to navigate under water. It's not a busy beach really either so although the shoreline can be skinny in places, there's plenty of room to put your stuff. Definitely the beach we had the most fun on and we came back even when staying on other parts of the island."

"Beautiful beach. Lots of parking. Sandy beach but lots of rocks as soon as you enter the water so be careful. Not the best for little kids as the water is rougher here than more protected beaches."

"It’s actually a really nice beach. But it is commonly used for dirt bikes and off-roaders, which ruins the peace and quiet. It’s neat that it’s a local hangout, but the noise from the dirt bikes, trucks, and ATVs spills into the neighboring campground (Kumu Camp). So it’s actually a decent beach, but I cannot recommend it to anyone. Which is probably what the locals prefer anyway."

"This is a beautiful, secluded beach. However, it does seem to be preferably for locals."

"Not for tourists. This is a local hangout. Nothing against the locals using their own island. The pavilions were full of families playing loud music and riding around on dirt bikes and four wheelers. We tried snorkeling, and it was not good. The water is so shallow that you're constantly scraped on the reef, and there weren't many fish. Not good for surfing either."
