"Definitely worth driving this route. We opted to stay overnight in Hana which I highly recommend. The road has serious curves and can be stressful at times. Drive cautiously and all will be fine! Remember to bring toilet paper as many of the stops do not provide this item. There are limited services and Hana is not a very big town. There is also an app(”Guide along”) for your phone you can purchase that narrates some Hawaiian history and culture as you drive."
"Our Road to Hana adventure started at 7:30 AM. It took a full 4 hours, to drive beginning to end, and we only stopped at half the suggested places. All of it was beautiful, the food available is extraordinary, and the views incomparable. When you go, you must go to the black sand beach, it's amazing and special."
"We did the drive backwards as many suggested. It’s an amazing way to see some beautiful scenery, but is very time consuming. We didn’t stay in Hana, maybe we should have and done it in two days to make it more enjoyable. We ended up skipping a lot of the suggested stops just because the drive was so tiring and long. I highly recommend the little farm stand in the pictures. Marley was so gracious and educational. The fruit sampler so delicious! Overall it was a lot of great spots, but there is no backing out once you commit."
"I'm sure there are so many reviews of this, but here's mine. We rented a car and navigated the over 600 turns on this route. I wouldn't say I was blown away by it. Sure, there were some good views, but it was an exhausting day and probably not worth the drive. We were on a cruise ship, and for the price they and other tour companies charge, I definitely wouldn't do it! We went all the way to Haleakala National Park and spent some time hiking there, and that was actually the best part of the trip. However, the road from Hana to there is really a difficult drive. Also, beware that if you go on Sunday, like we did, many things might be closed."
