"Secluded beach in a bay. There are some locals who bring their trucks out to fish and camp. Can also be accessed from the Wailea side by hiking 2.5 miles through a lava field. Not much reason to come out besides hiking the old kings road. Worth a day hike for the beach but very similar to more accessible areas."
"Keep our beach local! History of kanaio beach is only known by family born and raised in kanaio. Socal media has drawn the attention to many outsiders. To much traffic and inexperienced drivers who destroy our road . Over fishing, because there is no one to regulate. It's time for some changes . I have no control who goes to Kanaio beach but my recent experience tells me different. Having a weekend to go with my family only to be disappointed to find 14 other vehicles down there. Put yourself in my shoes , my first time there was 50 + years ago, I want my future generations to be able to experience what I once enjoyed! Please take your opala out or stay out !!"
"Kanaio beach is a cool little spot, people camp from time to time but it’s very remote. If you have time continue down kings highway for another 30-45 min there are more beaches along the coast with incredible tide pools"
"This place is an awesome fishing spot. Stayed a week, caught some fish, had many laughs, and ate well.... Like posted above bring plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen it does get warm."
"Mostly flat but extremely rocky hike, the beach itself is nice, camping is not allowed but there were signs of someone camping before. A huge amount of wild (?) tomatoes growing there. Found a few goat skeletons a bit off the trail, not sure if they died by themselves or were killed, looked kinda creepy."
