"We did have fun but we did leave with torn up feet from the underwater rocks and a torn bathing suit. In their what to expect email I wished they would have told us to bring water shoes. Three of four of us have cuts on our feet. The other part I did not like was that there was another group going 5-10 feet from us and in the same waves. This resulted in sever minor collisions of the boards and one less minor collision resulting in the neighboring fin tearing through my swim suit bottom when the other beginning surfer fell off of his board. To solve this they could have went every other wave or stood farther apart than the 5-10 feet they were."

"LOVED this surf school. The instructors are awesome. The location is perfect and right on the beach. Everyone is so nice. Sparky is the BEST! They teach a great technique for beginners. I felt safe the entire time. Will absolutely go back in the future."

"I have wanted to surf for quite a long time now and was really happy with my experience at Kauai Surf School. The location is very convenient and easy to get to. I expected we'd be with at least a small group, but my wife and I were just paired up with one other couple and it was great. We quickly learned the basics with our instructor and then headed out to the ocean. We were assisted by our instructor with getting into the right waves and it was a lot of fun. It takes a lot of paddling and effort to get back out, so be prepared for that. Next time, I will definitely be renting a board for after the lesson time to get some more reps and practice!"

"Jay was a wonderful instructor and put me at ease right away. I was very comfortable floating around, but to be honest, surfing was hard for me. I am 62 and I did not anticipate how much work your shoulders do. My son and daughter in law stood up several times and had a blast. I retired to the beach and watched them, which was enjoyable too. I would highly recommend this activity and this place to anyone wanting to try surfing."

"ALSO DOES BEACH RENTALS! They aren’t listed in maps as doing this, but they have chair, surfboard, umbrella, snorkels, etc. You can rent everything but the surfboards by the week for $30, or $10 for a day. Surfboards are $10/hour. We originally only took out one board, but went back about 20 min later and got a second one. Owner was very friendly, let us restart the first board’s timer to align with the second board, and let us keep our surfboards for longer than the hour. Note: I was here in November, I’m just catching up on posting my reviews now"
