Hoku Water Sports

"Dave was the instructor and he was super patient teaching me. I’m reasonably athletic but this was my first time surfing. Luckily there was only one other person in my group which allowed additional instruction time. For anyone new to surfing get ready for an hour and 1/2 of hard physical shoulder, arm and ab workout. I was only able to get about 1-2 way up on the board during the lesson but I am completely hooked on the activity. I will definitely be trying again when I get to Florida in a couple of months."

"The best place to rent gear from. We rented bikes for a week, and they were very reasonable and came with a lock and helmets. Everybody is friendly that works there and very helpful. Highly recommend."

"My 16yo had surf school at the top of her to-do list while on island and Hoku did not disappoint! The team was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. After about 15 minutes of dry land instruction, they were in the water and she was up in three runs! It was a great fun and exactly what she was hoping for. I recommend girls wear a one piece suit. If you don't have a long sleeve rash guard, Hoku has one for you to use, along with booties. 5 stars for Hoku!"

"We had a great experience! Our instructor, David, was patient, knowledgeable, fun, and encouraging. It was my first time on a surf board EVER and, thanks to David, I was able to catch several waves. My husband and 13 year old son did even better - catching countless waves. Highly recommend Hoku Water Sports if you are in Kauai and wanting to try surfing for the first time (or if it's been a while and you just need a refresher)."
