Royal Grove Waikiki

"We loved this motel! It is in a great location with amazing food all around it. Little convenience store downstairs and amazing poke as well. So close to the beach and we loved the pool. We will be staying again in June and we are excited. Dated motel interior, but we like an older feel. Overall, great location and awesome little spot."

"I recommend staying here if you don’t care about cleanliness and need somewhere to sleep and shower ONLY. But if you want a clean hotel, look elsewhere. I understand this place is older and outdated, but that is completely different than cleanliness. This place is disgusting. Bathroom floors had not even been swept or mopped when we arrived. Old toothpaste caked onto the bathroom sink faucet. There was no hot water unless you ran it for at least 20 minutes and then it would ONLY get warm. The air conditioning thermostat did not work. It was either freezing cold or hot in the room. The tv did not even work. We tried to go on the balcony and the sliding glass door would not even open. We let the office know about it and they did finally come fix it the next day. I honestly suggest to spend the extra buck and get a nicer hotel than this place."

"From start, this is more like 3-4* review but considering all the circumstances, a solid 5*. The room was very dated but everything functional. You can't beat the location, you can see Waikiki Beach from front of the hotel. That leads to a negative, very noisy at all times so be sure you have earplugs for night sleep. The staff is super friendly and willing to help within the limits. There are free beach towels for your convenience. The room had a full kitchenette, very dated but again, all you need to prepare your own food and avoid the insane restaurant prices. There is a laptop size safe. The TV has lots of good quality channels. The water pressure was great for both cold and hot. There is a small pool in the interior court but never used it being about 200m from Waikiki Beach. On Wednesday evenings there is a nice music concert in the main area, free to attend. No unexpected fees confirmed and this was basically the reason I stayed at this hotel. Despite some significant negatives, when coming back to Honolulu this hotel will be on top of my choices."

"Honest feedback, this is not to "hurt" the hotel, but personal experience only! Stayed there for 7 nights (Feb 2024), location is great, 5 minutes from Waikiki Beach and not too bad price-wise. It's good if you have a low budged, however, if you care about accommodation quality and cleanliness, then stay away! This is what I have experienced: Cockroaches everywhere (in the room, on the bed and the walls). Room & bathroom were very dirty, carpet smelled old and wet, shower not working properly, tabs almost came off the wall, bed linen was dirty with yellow/ brown stains and so are the curtains and the carpet, very old furniture/ rooms have not been updated since at least the 70's. Fridge & aircon are very loud, oven stinks when in use. Paint/ wallpaper is peeling of the walls, room door lock was broken. Also be aware of the noise levels, this hotel is extremely loud!!! Cars, loud music/ people talking downstairs or in the hallway well into the night. Constant door slamming. Dump trucks operating outside from 4 am onwards, walls/ windows in the hotel are very thin, you can hear absolutely everything!!!! We did get very little sleep and were tired the whole time we stayed there. I have learned my lesson and next time would rather pay more for accommodation than go through this horrible experience again."

"Staff are amazing and helpful. Royal Grove is 2 blocks walking distance. My room overlooked the street and had a lanai with ocean view! Rooms are best in Waikiki price wise! I was there in September 2023, and will be there for my birthday March 2024! I absolutely love the charm of this hotel!"
