"I had a horrible experience trying to make an insurance claim with John Mullen & Company. I wish I could give zero or negative stars. I’ve never come across a more worthless insurance company. They don’t answer the phone, they take a week to answer messages and they do everything they can to skirt responsibility when it’s time to pay a claim. Looking at the other reviews here it’s a wonder that they are able to stay in business."
"They’re extremely rude and give the worst advice on how to file claims. Gives you the wrong contact information then will later tell you it’s wrong and that it is your fault. Tracelynn was one of the worst case managers I’ve ever had."
"Very disappointed had hernia surgery scheduled weeks out in advance to me being out to recover. Checks are sent from mainland and will take 7-14 days to get here. I was told today is the late day by the manager and to call her whether my 2nd check was in or not. It was not. My first check’s issue date was the 1st today is the 16th still no check. I was used to being paid weekly and now it’s every 2-3 weeks I wish I could work for my money already but I need my surgery wound/mesh to heal on its own. This added stress is very unnecessary besides pay issues which means everything to me. Working with Wendy Uesato and Andrea/Aundrea D have both been very pleasant they have been on top of everything"
"I’d give them zero stars if I could. I’ve also never posted reviews for any website but I just had to because this is the worst insurance company! I’ve been at my job for 20 years, hurt my back 8 months ago and was sent to John Mullen & Co Inc. The last time I was on Workman’s compensation, my company had DTRIC which was terrific. Good customer service, intelligent and right amount of check and checks came in on time and fast because locally owned and operated! John Mullen first off, gave me the wrong amount from my very first checks! I make $2500-$3000 bi-weekly so when I googled the state of Hawaii’s maximum for Workman’s compensation TTD a week, I knew I should be getting about almost $1800 biweekly. I HAD to call them and let them know what’s up but the problem is the adjusters are here, in Hawaii, then they request the check to a totally different mainland company who cut and mails my checks that takes 7-14 days for me to ACTUALLY get my checks! My father lives in the mainland and cards/letters never take that long! My doctors has always written my notes only until the end of the month and I could go check back up a couple days after up like the 1st, 2nd and/or even 3rd day of the next month. No big deal. My doctors notes has always been from my injury date (8 months ago) to the end of the next month after they see me but my adjuster specifically called my doctors office to see what day I actually came in which was 3 days later and just so happen this month THEIR SET PAY PERIOD was 09/13/2019-10/03/2019. They’ve refused to pay for 10/01-10/03. I even went back to my doctor who couldn’t believe an insurance company was doing something like this and since they weren’t excepting the new note of disability to cover the 3 days, he wrote a note from my previous months visit and extended it to the 3 days as an revised/updated note so it wouldn’t be considered a back dated note. Nope, still didn’t work for them. My doctors, my family and anyone I told thought it was completely laughable but at the same time it’s money I’m owed so not the so haha funny kind of way. Like an insurance company being fake or frauds or just a joke. I was and still am disabled which is a fact and they know it will be months before I can go back to work! After all that, I was still told by my adjuster Kathy and her supervisor Adrene too bad because that’s THEIR SET PAY PERIOD and RULES so I’m not getting paid for those 3 days which equals to almost $400!!! If I cannot walk into the doctors office until 3 days later because I'm in so much pain and my doctors cover those days, I don’t get paid? Really? Woooooow! This company is something else but when they mess up do they doc their own pay $400? No! And they did indeed mess up with my first couple of checks being about $300 short a week and my newest check that I just received is the same amount from the last one with the 3 missing days of their pay period. It should have been the regular amount and they did apologize like I did when I made a mistake but the difference is their docking my pay of $400, they should get docked that too! Then it wouldn’t be so funny. Just scammers and their webpage exudes “family own based” as if their gonna take care of you and you’re in good hands, it’s false advertising! All lies. They outta be put out of business in my opinion!"
"The worst ever. I don't deal with them personally but I've had TWO sisters have issues with. Seems as if they have NO CLUE on how to run a business. They give the run around and are sloppy in how they handle their paperwork. How are these people allowed to handle insurance claims? I feel as if they need, some sort of professional to investigate the way the run their business. They don't answer phones as prompt as a business should, then when they return calls they don't know who has what paperwork and then say that they will have a check for you to pick up but come to find out they don't have the check! After driving around the entire island basically to gather paperwork they say you need in order for them to continue the transaction, give them the paperwork and then be told "oh, you'll have to wait until t omorroe morning for the check.". What is that?!"
