"Very thorough, patient, caring staff. Each nurse, Dr., Anesthesiologist came to speak to me personally so I thoroughly understood. Quick, painless, easy. My third procedure at this office."
"Get a second opinion. And not from this doctor! My husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2017. Dr. Ah Loy had ordered an MRI without contrast but my husband needed an MRI with contrast. If not for my advocacy and my husband’s primary care physician who ordered a second opinion from Queen’s on Oahu, my husband would not be alive today. An early diagnosis makes all the difference. Dr. Ah Loy was asleep at the wheel and/or didn’t care about my husband. I literally remember an appointment where he said to my husband, “You could have cancer. I could have cancer.” He acted like it was no big deal. It’s a BIG deal. My husband survived pancreatic cancer, no thanks to Dr. Ah Loy."
"According to the office, unfortunately my procedure was rescheduled twice due to staff shortage which did not help my schedule at all. Luckily, the office somehow found a way to have the procedure done at the Queens North Hawaii Community hospital instead. Dr. Ah Loy was amazing, very nice and accommodating. The procedure was simple and painless. I felt no issues afterwards. I appreciate the hospital staff immensely!"
"The worst medical experience I’ve ever had. I received a referral from my primary care physician and called almost daily for 3 WEEKS and left 5 voice mails within that time frame, not a single returned call or answered call. Finally after calling the office 4 times in a row someone picked up. I scheduled an appointment for 3 months out ( which was the first available appointment). I received a Voice mail 3 weeks prior to my scheduled appointment stating that they needed to reschedule due to the doctor seeing patients in the hospital on my scheduled appointment date. The woman who left the message indicated they had space available prior to my appointment. I called back into the office 10 minutes after receiving that VM, guess what....no answer...I called twice a day over the next week and left 4 VM asking for my call to be returned to reschedule. Finally after much frustration I left a VM indicating how incredibly unprofessional their office is. I received a call that evening at 7:37, 2 hours after the office closes and this is where it gets incredibly disturbing. The lady was completely rude from the get go and claimed to have returned my calls and left multiple VM’s, which was a complete fabrication. She then explained how busy their office is and that they are the only GI on Big Island....she then offered me an appointment to 3 months after my first scheduled appointment and followed that up with saying that because patients that are currently hospitalized take priority over non emergency patients they could not guarantee that my appointment would not be cancelled or rescheduled. I informed her that I have kept all the recorded of my calls and VM’s and would be filing a formal complaint with the Hawai’i Medical Board. I asked her name and she promptly hung up on me! This was not only the worst “medical” office experience I e ever had, but hands down the worst customers service experience I’ve had anywhere, ever. Since then I’ve asked around and this experience doesn’t seem to be an isolated one. Save yourself the time and just fly to Oahu if your able to."
"Having a colonoscopy is not something most folks would look forward to, but the staff at Dr. Ah Loy's workplace did their best to make things right. The prep and procedure were explained thoroughly and the procedure itself was completely painless. After procedure care was thorough and kindly. I can't say enough nice things about the overall process."
