"We had a near tragic event occur when leaving your hospital and it nearly led to the death of our newborn due to your practices and inconsistency of care, at this point it's been 5 weeks since our discharge at Hilo Medical from these issues and the child is in good health minus some emotional trauma we are still dealing with. My Partner and I still are dealing with the trauma we experienced, we are still waking up nightly with bad dreams and shaking with the memories of what happened. Personally as a mother I cannot get the sensation out of my head from holding my nearly dying infant son, who was unresponsive during the car drive from your facility to Hilo Medical. My Partner is still dealing with the Fugue state he was put in while our emergency situation occurred, he has Fibromyalgia and PSA which have been flaring up so badly he has troubles walking and with pain due to all the stress from this incident. Incident break down: Day of discharge I was having difficulty breast feeding and our son was circumcized. At discharge my son had not eaten in 6 hours and I was concerned making the two hour drive home with him not having eaten due to him being lethargic from the circumcision and him not wanting to latch that morning. I felt that the nurse was pressuring us out so I figured we would try to stop on the way home to feed and everything would be alright. When we were being discharged we had some questions about the car seat and wanted to make sure it was set up properly and safely for the baby to travel home in. It was then that we were told for the first time that the hospital was not car seat certified and that they couldn't inspect the car seat for us, instead we were told that it looks good and we should be fine. We were advised to get the baby home and to visit a fire station to have the car seat inspected. If we would have known this we would have gone to the fire station prior to labor and delivery. Instead we were put into a situation which caused my son to become hypothermic and lethargic on our drive home resulting in a body to him medical centers emergency room."
"Not that you want to have to visit an ER, but this one was excellent. The staff was caring and efficient. Everyone kept us informed of what was happening and estimated timelines. The MRi tech was awesome it making sure that I was ok during the MRI. Can’t say enough good things about them."
"Dr. Reis was professional, patient, and thorough. He is a good communicator with a competent office staff. He was able to offer treatment during my visit and inform me of future options. I would highly recommend him to others."
"I injured my spine and they put me in a bed in the hallway, checked in 5 people ahead of me, left me there for 3 hours while I was crying with a possible spinal cord injury (still dont know!) No privacy at all when they did the checkin to order imaging. And then tried to say that i had to stay overnight prior to ditching me in the hallway for another half hour. Was sitting directly across from the xray machine entire time. Can't wait for my $5000 bill for all the nothing that happened.."
