"The rooms were fine, nothing fancy. The biggest disappointment was that the Wild Rose Tavern ran out of food at 6:20 so the only option was the expensive Saloon which we opted not to do because we had enough snacks and leftovers we could make dinner out of it. Grounds are fancy but that's it."
"Rundown facilities in a gorgeous park! The electricity and water go out regularly (according to a local) and we got to experience BOTH during our 2 night (turned 1) stay. We were expected to not take showers and use port-a-potties outside, rationed 2 bottles of water per room, and treated very rudely by the staff. You also need to make reservations ahead of time to eat at onsite restaurant if you don't want to have to eat at a dining hall that looks worse than a nursing home cafeteria! Death Valley is a gorgeous park and we had the best time exploring and hiking - but this was NOT the place to stay. We were so disappointed. We had to check out and drive almost an hour at dark after being told the water was back in service only to learn that service mean a trickle... not enough to use showers or toilets. It was really disappointing."
"We stayed at the Ranch our first night and felt the rooms were amazing and well worth the price. What a stunning property with a lovely mesquite outdoor fire place, a well stocked grocery store for all your needs (wine and beer!) the pool area was gorgeous and well stocked with towels. My only negative was the service at the Saloon restaurant but I believe a lot of spots are struggling for help-and this spot is remote. It closed without warning and there were not many other options. Campers bring their food and drink and crowd the only outdoor fireplace which was a bummer and why we moved to the Inn for our remaining nights. The Inn was lovely and had a gorgeous indoor space for games and reading, an amazing reataurant with outstanding food and a pool with outdoor firepits and a cafe that sold prickly pear margaritas and house made chips and salsa! It was the perfect OASIS for our trip where we spent every day hiking and climbing and exploring. It was cold-but the pool and Inn was warm and welcoming!"
"This is such a wonderful property location but unfortunately, we had a terrible experience with the service. We stayed at the Ranch at Oasis and had multiple problems. First, the restaurant at the Ranch lost our dinner reservation that was made in advance for New Years' Eve. This was a huge problem, because the Oasis is the only option in Death Valley and we were left with no place to eat dinner. Even worse, the staff at the Ranch were completely unhelpful. The restaurant refused to accommodate even a take out order to take back to our room, leaving us with zero options for dinner. The staff were were both unconcerned and rude about the missing reservation. We were lucky that the restaurant at the other property, the Inn, made every effort to accommodate us and we were able to eat dinner there. The pool at the Ranch property is amazing and spring-fed so very warm water. Unfortunately, there were no towels at the pool and when we used our room towels and called to request replacement towels for the bathroom, nothing was done. Finally, our toilet stopped working that evening and multiple calls to the front desk for assistance led to zero help. We might have been camping, except for the price. The food at the buffet was sub-par and that is being generous, with terrible service there too. Half the buffet items were out and no one was to be found on site that was monitoring the situation. Sadly, we would not recommend the Oasis (Ranch) at all. The Inn might be a better bet. Seemed like the service there was a lot better, at least at the restaurant. Also, I did email the manager and no one ever responded, further demonstrating the low standard for service at the Ranch."
"Just went there the night before Christmas Eve. The hotel is beautiful, in their own words, a classic, antique structure, although modernized, and more in a western style, and of course, it's in the middle of the Valley. And it happened that there was a huge power out that day, and the hotel was out of lights, elevators, heating, etc., for the whole day. This of course was out of their hands, but the response to the situation was well below decent. The restaurant was closed and all they could offer us was a terrible Sandwich with ONE slice of turkey, a bag of chips and an orange (see picture) FOR $20 bucks!!! It was either that or go to bed hungry, or drive more than one hour to Pahrump, so we had to pay $20 for a $5 lunchbox. They didn't want to sell us a glass of wine because "it wasn't safe" with no lights. But people that brought their own got happily drunk. We had reserved and paid for an additional bed but since there was no elevator, the person in charge didn't "feel safe" moving the fold-out bed one floor down. So three adults had to sleep in one King Size bed. Long past are the times when things got done in the USA, now it's all "I'm not comfortable" and "I don't feel safe"."
