"Since going pescatarian one of the things I've missed most has been katsu and here come these beautiful people with some excellent tuna katsu to solve all my problems and make the world alright. Truly fantastic, highly recommend even if you're not limited to seafood options. I got the furikake ahi katsu with brown rice and side salad, the rice was nothing special so I'd suggest going for one of their more spiced up options like their mixed grain or the shiso wakame. And don't miss out on their salad, I don't know what they put in their salad dressing but I'm telling you it is fantastic. It's a star of a salad and goes very well with anything you could get off their menu."

"We had an enjoyable experience at Pioneer. My wife had the ribeye steak and it was cooked perfectly for her. I really enjoyed the Thai peanut dressing on her salad. The Mac salad was good and unique. My halibut was good but lacking a little flavor. Would go back."

"Not a fancy place but sooo good, and cheap for Hawaii. Mostly locals, and few Japanese tourists frequent this restaurant; it definitely deserves more customers among tourists, I think backpackers especially would love this place!"

"The ribeye plate is where it's at! So ono and rivals any steak house. The fries are done so well and overall great food. We also got the miso butter fish and fried chicken. Highly recommended!"
