Oshima Surf & Skate 75-5595 Palani Road, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740

"I have shopped at Oshima’s since 1994 when I moved to BI. I have never had the experience that I had on Saturday February 10, 2024. I ran into Oshima’s to buy a pair of Volcom slippers. I was in the store for 5 minutes. I tried on the right slipper and not the left, because I was in a hurry. After going home and wearing them in the kitchen for 1.5 hours, I felt something sticky on the inside of the left slipper. After removing the slipper's, I discovered that the slipper coating had peeled-off. I then, returned to Oshima’s with my receipt, to exchange the obviously damaged slippers. The salesgirl accused me of damaging them and refused to exchange the damaged slippers. After insisting that she call the manager. She disappeared into the back room for 10 minutes. Upon return of “her calling the manager”, I was once again accused of damaging the slippers. The other girl in the store sold them to me, and I asked her about the slippers, she replies, “I never looked, that closely to see if there was anything damaged before she paid.” I was then instructed to contact Volcom directly. This is not the experience I expected from a retail store in Kailua Kona. After 30 years of shopping at Oshima’s, I will never shop at Oshima’s Surf and Skate store again."

"Nice clothing and gear shop with great customer service. The two younger women working were very helpful. People were waiting at the door for them to open. I found size 14 flip-flops. Great sticker collection if you're a sticker nerd like me."

"Great selection in a very conservative space! Lots of tshirts, swim trunks, and beach apparel along with all the board gear you could wish for inna pinch. Shoe selection is very limited and left room for improvement. Great service, no dressing room available due to Covid-19 restrictions as well as no public restrooms. Plenty of hydroflasks and gear to help you hang on to your cool while in the heat."

"Great selection of clothes and brands but I’m giving a bad review because they still have not opened their fitting rooms. If they are going to charge $50 for a pair of shorts you should be able to try them on first. They are the only place in Kona that has not reopened their fitting rooms. I don’t understand? There is plenty of social distancing when I’m the only one in the fitting room? I bought two pair of shorts at the Mauka store and then had to find a public restroom to try them on. They didn’t fit, so returned them later at the kona store (no public bathroom in Kainaliu?) When I mentioned the inconvenience and asked when the fitting rooms might reopen, the staff did not have an answer and did seem to not care."
