Five Below

"Me and my family visit this location periodically to allow the kids to buy random items. Usually it’s pleasant and we enjoy browsing. Today however I experienced something that has prompted me never to return. We shopped like normal and began approaching the checkout. There are always multiple check out stations so as usual we approached a station to begin our check out process. The employee was in the middle of helping someone else with a question and as soon as he noticed us he ran over to us immediately. Even left the woman with her words in the air. He began explaining that he had to check us out himself because of a new policy. Oddly there was a woman ahead of us with no one assisting her in her checkout process. Regardless of that detail we just stepped back and allowed him to assist us. In a moments time more customers began to arrive and he would just wave them through and allowed them to checkout themselves. As this continued and continued to happen my spouse finally asked why everyone was able to do it themselves but not us. He replayed the policy also stated he could allow others to do it alone if he was busy. Another odd statement as he was busy when we arrived too. At this point it was evident that the policy just served to allow him to treat certain customers differently than others. We were angry of course but in hopes our kids wouldn’t notice we followed through with our 200$ purchase (which we could clearly afford) and went on our way. We did continue to watch him from our car window…..he assisted no one else that was light skin and continued to approach people who were Hispanic or African American. It’s sad this thing still happens….and as previously stated we won’t be going back there anymore but just a warning to others. If your skin tones not light you won’t be treated fairly here."

"New favorite store You should check it out especially if you have kids. They have games, outdoor play and pool accessories. Lots of stuff to do crafts with and so much Frozen character items. I had to drag my girls out the store."
